Hi I have Win 10, and I have a Lifecam HD-3000, and the audio has a hum.
I've tried a couple of units and they are the same, so I know it's not a physical fault.
I also tried changing the sampling rate, a solution offered in other forum answers, but that didn't work.
Does the Lifecam HD-3000 simply not work with windows 10, or is there a solution to get the sound working properly ?

Have you tried the webcam on other computers aswell or did you just test on 1 PC? Would be worth to test on others and then we can surely know that it is something with the webcams software.

Hiya Melik, thanks, well, I tried it on two other windows 10 machines.
I should say I also tried using the Win 7 driver from the Microsoft download site, in compatibility mode, but that made no difference, still a loud hum over the audio.
It just looks like it's obsolete on windows 10, the company hasn't updated the drivers.

I've gone through a lot of forum solutions including using .cab drivers from the windows catalogue - which don't install.
The microsoft online store lists this camera as suitable for windows 10. I think they should change that.
I could not replicate your issue. I took my hd-3000 out of my drawer and connected it to my external USB Hub. I tested with Voice Recorder and Audacity. I did not pick up any hum using the drivers I had installed or the alternate generic USB audio device driver I later changed to. Maybe you are picking up some system/room/line noise from your AC, power supply, mainboard or other devices. Have you tried another Windows 10 machine, powered USB hub, less devices, no USB extension/replacement uplink cable (if used) or other physical location. You might want to try adjusting your mic levels or bit rate to see if that improves the condition. I did not make any adjustments to the default bit rate.
