Lifecam HD-3000 bad audio

Hi I have Win 10, and I have a Lifecam HD-3000, and the audio has a hum.

I've tried a couple of units and they are the same, so I know it's not a physical fault.

I also tried changing the sampling rate, a solution offered in other forum answers, but that didn't work.

Does the Lifecam HD-3000 simply not work with windows 10, or is there a solution to get the sound working properly ?

    I have LifeCam Cinema camera and recently I need to set the sensitivity really high now to get decent level of audio. With high sensitivity (90+) I get audio level decent but a lot of high pitched noise. (both Camera and Voice recorder apps)

    I have recording using the same camera and PC (and the same location - basically the same take) from 2nd May and the sound is loud and clear. Camera connected directly, video is as expected. The settings are the same .

    I can see that the driver version on my lifecam is from 21st May. Though I must admit I am on Windows Developer edition - 21390.2025.  My suspicion is that the recent drivers broke the audio on LifeCam cameras.

    Had a similar issue but it turned out to be the USB hub. I plugged into my monitor and it works great now :)

    Glad it worked for you both, but it didn't for me. I've been refunded by Microsoft though, so will try and find a home for the camera where it's more compatible

    Hi, all...been following this thread with frustration, until today. I retraced my steps and made sure my settings matched Techfreak's suggestions, yet the buzz/drone continued. However, I then took a closer look at this 'Listen' tab:

    "Listen to this device" was unchecked by default, but the change I made was to switch to "Speakers" from "Default Playback Device" and voilà! No more annoying buzz. Thanks everyone for your suggestions, I hope this can work for others also.

    Can confirm that this is the fix.

    The constant audio tone was driving me mad but it had to be a combination of software settings.

    I can't confirm if the samplerate is a factor (setting to 44.1KHz or 48KHz ('DVD quality') etc, but the definitive setting to remove the hum is to change the 'Playback through this device' setting.

    It must NOT be set to 'Default playback device'.

    Changing it from 'Default Playback device' to the actual device outputs removed the hum.
