As you’re not using Outlook but the Windows Mail app then that solution doesn’t apply. It only applies to the Outlook client within Office.

Right it looks like I've managed to remedy the Google app eventually with this App password, hopefully, thank you, but the Yahoo app is not that straight forward, as this what I get:

How to use this app password

    1. Go to "Tools" in your Outlook client
    2. Click "Account Settings"
    3. Choose your Yahoo account and click ‘Change’
    4. Copy the app password above and paste it into the password field

As we have established, I am unable to go to "Tools" in my Outlook client, so how would I do this, and please do not ask me to delete the account and start again, because with all this I am sceptical, even if I have a imap email server.

There is a problem with this, as I have been seeing on Community forum, so surely there is a solution to be found, as this is getting ridiculous now, don't you think. Anthony

We should ignore Outlook if you’re using the Windows Mail app.

You wouldn’t lose any emails unless the account is set up to use pop as the incoming server.

There’s no problem keeping the original Yahoo or Gmail account & creating it again.

The only reason I mentioned Outlook, becuase you said I needed to arrange this app specific password and the only way I can do this is use the Outlook client, and the only option I have is the Outlook webmail app..

As I said in my previous message the problem is in my Windows Mail app. I've gone into all the settings until I'm blue in the face. I understand that each have their own settings and would not try otherwise.

If you remember I had the Outlook app with the Menu and Tools etc., but with all the activating, is just a Outlook webmail app.

Your suggestion of creating the account again would only mean me losing all my email that I wish to keep, so that is not an option. Surely this cannot be so difficult to rectify with Microsoft Community, and with this being the first time of using it, no very encouraging I'm afraid. Anthony
