I lost all my passwords on all my browsers

I lost all my passwords on all my browsers with the last Windows update. Every time I try to get support, I am directed to the spot to "save" passwords. They are still there allowing them to be saved. Each time I sign on to a site, I am asked if I want to save. I always say yes, but it still never saves. I had to change all my passwords and write them down because I didn't remember them because they were all saved before that update.  This is annoying, to say the least. Please, don't advise me on how to go into my browser settings and choose to save passwords. I know that. Everyone does.; It doesn't work!

I have been working on getting this fixed since the last update/ I got blocked out of my bank for attempting to use what I thought was my password. 

I wish to opt-out of Windows updates. They only serve to make PC users, annoyed!

    I have had this problem with both Microsoft and chrome.  I have done eveything that you said and I still have this problem.  It is a problem with my banking emails and eveything that uses a password.  It is very annoying to say the least and such a waste of time.  I am back to the old fashioned way of writing them all down in a book, as I just can't remember them all.  Have they fixed this problem or should I reverse back to my other version of windows 10!  This is an awful situation.

    For my computer, the simple procedure below SOLVED the issue!

    Turns out, for my computer anyway, there's an incompatibility with my printer's HP Customer participation utility task . Strange... maybe from the HP Instant Ink program?

    Here are the steps that worked on my PC:

    Disable the HP Customer participationapp:

    Search for Task Scheduler in the Start Menu, and open the program. The window will take a few seconds to populate.

    In the Task Scheduler Library folder, 

    Scroll down and locate the task in the Window: HPCustParticipation....

    Right-click the task and choose Disable.

    Restart your PC

    I did this for 2 PCs, and has been working perfectly for 6 weeks now. Not only did it stop the passwords from disappearing regularly from Chrome, Edge & CCleaner browsers, but all the passwords I had lost reappeared in my browsers. Also, I no longer have to log in every day to OneDrive, Office, and other pc programs. 

    I REALLY didn't expect it to be permanent, but it's held through a couple Window updates, so fingers crossed!

    Good luck everyone, my hair has started to grow back, lol!

    Dee, if you use one of the more mature browsers then these almost always work correctly for passwords. Chrome and Firefox let you sign in to sync passwords, Favorites, history, etc. so that al you have to do is sign in on any device to load them all back just like they were.

    I use Chrome and lose my passwords regularly. I am sure it is when MS updates. It is driving me mad. When are they going to fix this?

    Let me help you a TINY bit. This is not a solution but a workaround till M$ gets their heads or of their behinds. In edge go to settings-Profiles-passwords and on the right side after 'Saved Passwords is three Dots. Click on the dots. select save. You will be prompted where you want to save the file. From the same place in Chrome, you can restore from this file. Keep it up today or you will always be catching up. From edge in Profiles, you can import. in the Import Browser data window open the drop-down window for 'Import From' and select Chrome. It is tedious I know but so is M$. YOu can do similar to save your addresses etc. in the Auto-fill data but it saves it to a Java Script file and I don't do java so you will have to fend for yourself on that one.

    Oh my gosh - I agree, Dee!

    I have no answers, but can add a few weird details - 

    This started happening to me in August - on Chrome browser, where I tried every "fix" I could find, then I installed CCleaner Browser for a while, and then Edge Browser, which was working great for 4 days, but today, it lost them all, too. (Firefox hasn't lost my passwords, but crashes my PC)

    Chrome Browser - Really weird - when my passwords all disappear, I can go to a site, log in by typing the info, and save the password for that site.  

    Then if I go to my passwords list in Chrome, I see that one password. 

    BUT if I delete that password, then ALL my passwords immediately reappear! So they're saved somewhere...

    CCLeaner Browser - The passwords would disappear and reappear every few hours over the day, without any consistent input from me.

    Edge Browser - looks like they're just gone today, none of my tricks make them reappear so far.

    I only save passwords on my PC, so I don't use sync, nor do I want to save them anywhere except in my PC AppData.

    Super super frustrating.
