Microsoft flight sim 2020 wont launch

Hi i recently downloaded Microsoft Flight Simulator to my pc which i was very excited to play. Unfortunately when ever i click the icon for the game, nothing will happen the game will not launch and i have tried uninstalling it and installing it again and nothing has worked so far. Please help me because i am confused as to what to do.

Thanks Louise Great to hear you got it sorted. I really didnt want to reinstall windows so I battled on.

I Finally got it to LOAD!

After crawling through pages of tips and tricks I have found a solution to my CTD on loading screen issues.

Only problem is I'm not sure exactly what fixed it but this is the Process I did.

  1. Uninstalled  MSFS 2020 and Restart PC

2 Uninstalled Xbox App and Restart PC

3 Set App language Settings to US English (this is a different setting than the keyboard and Display Language. It is in the windows settings app.

4 Installed windows sdk and Restart PC

5 Installed Xbox App and yup Restarted PC.

6 Logged in to Xbox app and searched for Flight Simulator.

7 Installed MSFS 2020 (from the xbox app) then Restarted PC

8 Now I Launched MSFS from the start menu NOT THE XBOX APP.  Right click and Run as Administrator.

The Desert scene came up like usual but instead of the expected CTD up came the installation manager and so far so good I am downloading content.

I really hope this can help Others, Good Luck

Update: After about 8 hours of downloading the extra content the Sim works. and it does look amazing. Two weeks of frustration getting it to work seems a little over the top but I'm not complaining now :)

After Update 4 MSFS2020 did not launch anymore.

Before this update everything worked perfect.

After update windows, reinstall MSFS2020 any many more attemps no progress at all.

But the solution was more easy than I assume ;-)

I switched the Bullguard Fire Wall out.

Instead of Bullguard the PC switch to Windows Defender Fire Wall automatically.

With the Windows Defender Fire Wall the game launches perfect.

Happy again!

    Same here.. Get my desert pic for 8 seconds too and crash back to desktop... Got the Boxed set so at least I have that.. lol.. Tried everyhhing but the pig wont run for me :(

    hi. i had the same issue. it was a simple fix. In the windows settings the language setting. the speech for English(united states ) was not installed.,

    that worked for me .

    other things of interest. I have just upgraded my machine to accommodate the VR experience on Quest II it is awesome, I can tell you, however, I had a worse connection and the download too 36 hours! and most of the planes were missing and it didn't download the deluxe and other addons from steam. the advice, to log out and back into steam, I haven't tried but if anyone is having that problem. 

    VR beware, if you do what i did and transferred onto a new system to get the 10mbs on the USB you need to have an enormous graphics card to get the benefit. if you have a USB 3 gen1 it will still work, a little stuttery but my 1080 GTX can't push the graphics for me to appreciate the 10 over 5 so if you want max sensation from it like flying through London you are going to need the 30 series at least! but it is awesome once you get there. 

    and if the computer can't see quest it might be because the drivers for USB were generic not the intel ones so get them off the website. that took most of a day to resolve as well .
