Thanks Louise Great to hear you got it sorted. I really didnt want to reinstall windows so I battled on.

I Finally got it to LOAD!

After crawling through pages of tips and tricks I have found a solution to my CTD on loading screen issues.

Only problem is I'm not sure exactly what fixed it but this is the Process I did.

  1. Uninstalled  MSFS 2020 and Restart PC

2 Uninstalled Xbox App and Restart PC

3 Set App language Settings to US English (this is a different setting than the keyboard and Display Language. It is in the windows settings app.

4 Installed windows sdk and Restart PC

5 Installed Xbox App and yup Restarted PC.

6 Logged in to Xbox app and searched for Flight Simulator.

7 Installed MSFS 2020 (from the xbox app) then Restarted PC

8 Now I Launched MSFS from the start menu NOT THE XBOX APP.  Right click and Run as Administrator.

The Desert scene came up like usual but instead of the expected CTD up came the installation manager and so far so good I am downloading content.

I really hope this can help Others, Good Luck

Update: After about 8 hours of downloading the extra content the Sim works. and it does look amazing. Two weeks of frustration getting it to work seems a little over the top but I'm not complaining now :)

After Update 4 MSFS2020 did not launch anymore.

Before this update everything worked perfect.

After update windows, reinstall MSFS2020 any many more attemps no progress at all.

But the solution was more easy than I assume ;-)

I switched the Bullguard Fire Wall out.

Instead of Bullguard the PC switch to Windows Defender Fire Wall automatically.

With the Windows Defender Fire Wall the game launches perfect.

Happy again!

Walter

I got a reply today from a manager named Rodmar who states I have owned the game too long for them to give me a refund. They can go push dirt.   I PREPURCHASED THE deluxe premium version to support them in getting this game out,  so for prepaying this game, and getting to play it a few times on an old PC that justifies them refusing my refund.  I will never load this game again. I am the guy who spends hundreds a year on new planes and scenery.  Their loss.  I will just stick with Xplane11 and load some graphic upgrades, clouds,  etc.  I would rather support Xplane and their Fine Working product then get the run around with a company that puts their graphically amazing PC simulator under a LOG in to XBox live online bull-nonsense.  I agree, I would rather not struggle with this garbage any more and just continue with a Xplane 11

My system is very similar to yours, and I finally got FS2020 working again after completely reinstalling Windows.  I first tried and in-place reinstall, keeping programs and settings, but that did not work.  So I removed the primary disk partitions and started from scratch.  It has been working fine for a couple of weeks now, touch wood.

Now that I am actually getting to play with FS2020, I am realizing how bad the avionic systems modelling (and to some extent the flight model) is.  I also purchased X-Plane 11 and while the scenery is much less realistic, the actual flight simulation feels better.

It is sad. I spent the good part of a day Trying to talk to a support person.  I had to revert to tricking their phone system going in under Windows support then giving my open Case numbers, yes two case numbers now.

I have done everything in this list from Greg, including the reinstall of Windows 10 Pro from an ISO file I had to download.

I have a custom built AMD Ryzen 9, on a X570 Gigabyte mobo, 32 gigs  of 3600 ram and an RTX3090.  Everything I have runs great including other flight simulators.    I pre-purchased MSFS 2020 from MS.  I had it running on this same hard drive before I rebuilt my old PC in to this latest and greatest hardware beast.

It just baffles me the quality of tech support or lack thereof from the people you actually get to talk to at MS.  Its sad really.  I got a run around and passed off to tech after tech that knew less than the previous person I spoke to....  At this point I am considering a full refund or legal action.  I built this PC specially to run this simulator.  Its so sad the company has no concern for the customer experience and their support is subpar.

If there is a knowledgeable tech out there that can help me I would love to be put in touch with you. I can't imagine there isn't North American based knowledgeable help that knows what they are talking about in troubleshooting this issue.
