AOL Mail sync with Windows 10

I've had an e-mail from AOL saying that from 20 October they are no longer supporting third party access such as Windows 10 as they may not be secure and to sign in directly via the web or their app.

I'm disappointed with this action as it means I don't have access on the Windows platform which I find is great and simple to use, so is there any way I can still continue to access my e-mails using Windows 10 after October or will they now be blocked.

Hope you can persuade AOL to change their minds.

I have experienced the same issue that Bryan is talking about.  I can send and received AOL emails on my phone, but they are now blocked on my laptop in spite of numerous attempts at circumventing their restrictions.  Its really annoying.

Interesting that AOL making it difficult to use their emai on major sustems Windows 10, Apple IOS, Android, etc. - AOL will lose!

Thanks for all your comments. Latest email from AOL on Wednesday 14/10/20 does have three options to choose from. I'll try option 3 which gives you a unique generated password to put into your third party app. I'll try it first for my android tablet and see how it goes. If OK I'll then try with Windows 10.

Option 3: You can generate a one-time, unique password that will allow you to sign in to your account using your non-AOL email application. Once created, this password will continue to allow your app to securely sync your AOL email unless you sign out (or are signed out) from your app. You can find instructions on how to do this here. I've just used Option 3 to genertae a unique 16 digit password for my android tablet. Deleted my email account and then set it up again by copying and pasting the password in the set up. Looks like it's now working as it did before.

I'll wait until tomorrow to see what happens with Windows as I've looked at my account and it already contains a16 digit password.  

I'll be interested in feedback from other users to see how you've got on.

So does the AOL generated 16 letter password become your new AOL password?
