Cannot get bootable usb windows 10 2004 to work

Have rest the computer yet again for the umpteenth time

Have had one advisor on here saying my pc might not be compatable but it is only 1 year old

Lenovo Ideacentre 310s-08asr amd a9-9245 radeon r5 compute cores 2c+3G

8Gb Memory

875Gb free on hard drive

Razer Chroma keyboard

Windows Defender used no 3rd party

Have installed windows 10 to a bootable usb device 16gb

bios set so that usb is primary boot device over hard drive

Reset computer

screen momentarily shows windows logo then there is a flicker and the normal lenovo boot screen is displayed

then computer tried the usb again and the same flicker and back to the lenovo screen again

computer keeps this loop going until the usb is removed and computer then boot normally.

Previously tried windows update to no avail constantly getting error 0xc1900101 but using windows media creation tool I get

error 0xc1900101-0x20017

Have run lenovo vantage and it reports system up to date

Have run lenovo system update and it updated the AMD onboard graphics driver, that reported no other updates are required.

Ran the AMD drivers and supported and that updated drivers and AMD software

System has Office, Canon drivers and software for TS8351 installed, Google Earth, Firefox, Chrome, Thunderbird and IMVU installed. These proved not to be a problem as my 5 year old HP computer updated to 2004 without any problems.

Tried again and error 0xc1900101 occurred yet again.

The computer has been taken back to 1903 its original format and even with nothing added resulted in error 0xc1900101 and 0xc1900101-20017 using media creation tool.

Update troubleshooter this time reports an issue has been detected. When you look at the details it says "check for windows update issues"

Then says "resolve windows update issues - completed

Then WaaSMedicService

I did see you have that problem for a while.

Sorry that I did not look through all the older threads.

So I might be missing something important.

Have you created that USB Stick via the MCT?

    https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10

And if so, how long ago?

Is it a fresh download with the latest version 2004?

When you download the .iso, do you uncheck the option to optimise for the downloading PC? That is important.

Do you have the same Bitrate e.g. 64Bit chosen when creating the USB Stick?

    Hi,

I can't be of much help with the errors in your upgrade attempt, but maybe with the bootable media..

First off.. do not mess with your Bios settings.. If this is a 1 year old machine, your boot device should probably be "WindowsBootManager"" not an actual drive.. That is how the newer UEFI Bios works..

Use Boot Options at the first screen you see.. Usually something like F9, F11, F12, Esc.. Then use it to select the flash drive..

How did you create the flash drive.. UEFI machines have different requirements for bootable installation media than older Legacy Bios machines.. The Create Media tool should create one that will work, but otherwise, a tool like RUFUS will do it..

RUFUS will permit you to create a drive specifically for UEFI... GPT\FAT32, or Legacy... MBR\NTFS..

You will also need to make the appropriate selection in Boot Options for either a UEFI Flash Drive or "normal Flash Drive..

The new build 2004 has been causing problems for some people.. I would have thought these would have been fixed by now..

Edit... There have been issues with Lenevo machines in which a Bios setting needs to be temporarily turned off, but I am at a loss at the moment to remember the details..

    Hi Graham,

I'm Independent Advisor not Microsoft employee or support person. But I'm in contact with Windows developers since 1995 - as a one of the best Windows beta-testers till 2009 when program was closed, as an MVP in 2005-2017 including Windows System & Performance nomination. So I have deep enough Windows knowledge and you may trust me. It's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you.

Please run sfc /scannow command before update. Use another USB drive and create another installation media.

Check hard drive for errors. Do you have one hard drive or two?

Disconnect all USB devices except wired mouse and keyboard.

    Disconnect Internet. Run installation again.

Please create USB using Windows media creation tool not Rufus.
