Flight simulator please insert disc???

However, because I did not buy the Disc version my problem still remains. Until your reply I was not sure this applied only to the Disc version so I tried it out.

I bought my version from MS Store, but as long as Bitdefender blocked the connection to internet from flightsimulator.exe, it caused MSFS to ask to insert game disk. Now as Bitdefender has fixed the issue, MSFS seems to be working fine.

Looks like latest Bitdefender update resolved the problem! 🙂 Haven’t got any problems to start MSFS 2020 or with the online connection since that.

Barry402, I see that Gie has replied directly to you.  However, for anyone else who believes "nothing happens" when they download and double click Gie's ISO file, I thought it would be helpful to explain that you have to fire up Windows Explorer in order to see the effect of double clicking the ISO file.  Specifically you need to open Windows Explorer [Windows key + E]   and then click on 'This PC' in the left hand column in order to display your computer's drives.  If your PC only has one hard drive (and you don't have any external drives attached) Windows Explorer will probably just display your hard drive as 'Windows (C:)'.  However, if you double click Gie's ISO file and then re-open 'This PC', you will see that a 'new' 'drive' in addition to 'Windows (C:)' is also displayed.  This 'new' drive will be called something like 'DVD drive (D:) MSFS'.  (The drive letter displayed may vary if your PC already has another drive or partition that has grabbed the letter D. This doesn't matter.)  You don't have to open this 'new' DVD drive.  No action is required. The point is that although you haven't physically attached a DVD drive to your PC or inserted a DVD, your PC behaves as though you have. When you subsequently launch Flight Simulator it 'thinks' you have already inserted disc 1 from the MS Flight Simulator box set into the drive.  Providing you double clicked the ISO file BEFORE you launched Flight Simulator, the effect of this 'new' drive is to enable Flight Simulator to fully launch without grinding to a halt after the 'press any key' screen because it is asking for the insertion of a 'game disc' that you don't have.  I stress that this solution only applies where people have bought Flight Simulator as a box set of DVDs (known as the Disc Version).  The use of the ISO file in this way simply avoids the hassle of digging Flight Simulator's 'disk 1' DVD out of the box set and loading it into a DVD drive every time you want to use Flight Simulator.
