When I start up the game it tells me to press any button to start. I press a button and then it tells me to insert the disk and press continue. I don't have a disk because I purchased the premium Deluxe Edition online it's bought-and-paid-for it says the game is installed but everytime I press continue it just pops up again please insert disc.

I borrowed an external DVD drive to install my ten disc set as my desktop doesn't have one.

Now it asks me to insert disc - I can't I don't have a DVD drive.......................

I've paid a lot of money for this program, I've registered my code with Microsoft - are they assuming I'm a thief?

They say this problem is solved.

It is 25th November 2020 the problem is not solved.

Raymond,  like you have have been suffering the inconvenience of the "please insert disc" message since I installed MS Flight Simulator from the 10 DVD boxset.  Unlike you I do have a DVD drive, so I have been able to insert disc #1 before launching the app if required - irritating though it is.  However, today (25 November 2020) the flight simulator app invited me to download an update (v 1.11.6.0) from the Microsoft Shop.  By the way, this update was a relatively small download; not the whole, massive program.  Since installing this update it seems that the app launches properly without demanding the insertion of a disc.  So your problem may be solved if you can manage to bring your app up to the latest version.

    Thanks Gie

I did the ISO thing and now it works fine. Many thanks.

    I'm having another moan though!

The programmers might be pretty clever - so why don't they implement a less disorganised setup system for controls.

Did they leave that to the coffee boy.........................

Microsoft asked me to remove the link to the iso file. This file would violate their copyrights. If you have DVD1 yourself, you can create an iso file with isocreator. This program is free. You don't need the three large files. This is my ISO-file:I hope this helps.

Gie, thanks for the update and for the explanation as to why you have had to remove the link to your ISO file.

Since I originally installed MS Flight Simulator from my 10 DVD boxset the app has invited me to download a couple of updates from the web.  The latest, (version 1.11.6.0) was installed today from the Microsoft Shop.  It seems to me that since I installed this update the flight simulator launches properly without requiring the insertion of DVD#1 from the boxset - or the need to fire up your excellent ISO file.  So maybe Microsoft has now fixed irritating "please insert dsc" problem.
