Flight Sim 2020 keeps crashing even with the a beast of a PC and Video card?

You may want to add a post in topic: "Steam version CTD after blackshark.ai logo and legal notices" found in Bugs & Issues > Performance & Graphics.  I haven't seen any fixes posted there yet, but it looks like someone else is having an issue similar to yours with their Steam version.

Since your game is crashing even before you're flying, I'd try this, if you haven't yet:

• Uninstall the game
• Press the Windows Key
• Type in: wsreset in the "Type here to search" box
• Right-click and select Run as Administrator
• Once complete, reboot computer
• Reinstall the game from Steam
• Go to Settings > Apps
• Find Microsoft Flight Simulator on the list
• Select Advanced Options
• Select Reset

When you open the game after the reset, it will download the entire game (100GB plus), which takes a while.

My Microsoft Store version is nearly bullet-proof these days and I haven't crashed in over a month now.

I was having very similar problems on my HP Omen "gaming notebook" which is also my mobile office. Hex core processor, decent SSD and an onboard NVIDIA GPU. Running Windows 10, early release 9developper cycle) but only stable versions.

Crashed without any real provocation. Especially if I tried to fly out of my local airport - instant drop to system. Lessons would freeze part way through.

I'd downloaded it about when it came out then upgraded from the store.

So I reset the application.

Still crashed randomly

Investigated virtual memory settings and shifted to system managed (that shrank the pagefile, I had set it to a monstrous value for some Excel work I do)

It still crashed!

Upgraded to Deluxe rather than the "Games subscription" lower cost version. (Just in case.) That had it do some stuff that looked like it truly believed I was licensed - but it still crashed.

I de-installed the software after resetting, reinstalled - and even with an 80mbps download speed, that was like watching paint drying. This is a most bloated bundle of garbage. It downloads every "challenge" in its repertoire, consuming around 100GB. Big fat bloated code base.

Wondering if the default play settings were too rich, I dropped the frame rate down to 24 fps.

The flying lessons now work stably unless you flow on to the next lesson. Then they just crash to system. 

So I've spent around Aus$260 (US$190) on a chunk of software that was promoted heavily by MS as the best flight sim ever. It is not ready for commercial release, It is not fit for purpose.

Anyone want to get a class action going for mail order fraud?

I spend my working life advising clients how to securely design secure IT systems. The total unreliability of this MS badged product makes me wonder about reliance in all MS products.

I also had a lot of issues. Fixed them all by going to options, general, data, and adjusted the rolling cache. By me it was set to 8. I set it to 32. After this change I deleted it and recreated it. Takes some time. After this change all my problems where gone. No crashes anymore. Maybe this also helps for one of you.

I have the exact same issue. I have a Ryzen 7 3700 X (stock), 32 GB RAM, Radeon RX 5700 XT (slightly undervolted). Sometimes I can play for 10 minutes, sometimes 40 minutes then all of a a sudden green screen on the screen with HDMI then PC reboots. I monitor the temps and they are normal, GPU idling at 60-65 C, CPU at 55-60 C.

No other game or app is doing this. I can play hours of Division 2, F1 2019, Gears 5 and so on. MSFS is the only game that is crashing my PC. I've just spend a lot of money upgrading to this new setup but cannot enjoy the sim cause I know it will crash.

I've also tried everything from increasing the virtual memory, deleting logitech software, running the GPU at default, disabling v-sync, re-installing the game and so on but nothing seems to work. 

Is someone at ASOBO or MS reading this? I hope they will so that this issue is getting sorted out!

So a quick update from my part. The game is not crashing anymore, have been playing for hours and hours the last 2 days.  As mentioned earlier I had a slight undervolt on my Radeon RX 5700 XT and can play all the games I want with no crash what so ever...except MSFS, so I dialed the wattman settings to default and increased the memory to 1850 Mhz and has worked since then no crash what so ever. 

The strange thing here is that when running undervolted on the GPU I did that because of lower Watts, lower temps but same performance as stock so basiclly the cards runs cooler, but MSFS does not like that for some reason. Luckily wattman has different game profiles that you can apply and its just a push of a button to have the specific settings for MSFS and the undervoltage settings for other games.

Your not the only one, My machine is somewhat similar, and it crashes all the time to the desktop, sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes after 45 minutes, sometimes immediately. I've done all their steps and still persists. Added 16 gigs of VM, clean re-install of nvidia drivers, re-installed V++ , disabled MSI afterburner, blah blah blah, they want everyone to jump through loopholes to change their PC to match their bad coding. ONLY game that crashes to desktop.  

Same ive tried everything. Even got a refund from microsoft just to buy a steam copy and still the same thing my pc more than exceeds the requirements of the game ive spent countless hours (over 8 hours) of troubleshooting just to have the game crash on loading a flight every time i even bought a $200 joystick and throttle for this game and it all went to waste im beyond disappointed and pretty angry about this i work all day and want to come home and enjoy a game i spent money on and its not even playable Absolute bullsh*t
