here were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80080005).

This is the error I get every time for a few days.

I tried troubleshooting but it didn't work. 

Many have said in other queries(for the same problem) to Reset SoftwareDistribution & Catroot2 folders. But I'm scared to do that because I'm worried if something happens to my laptop.

Please suggest a way to solve this issue.

This is a frequent issue sometimes caused by driver compatibility errors: Windows 10 Update Assistant (microsoft.com)

You could try downloading the Windows Update Assistant. It can help bump your version of windows past this sort of update error to the latest version.

Choose the 1st option for the update assistant: Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

    No problems.

    Let us check the Installation log to find why the update failed. Please share the logs as mentioned in this article. You should use a File sharing service like Onedrive or Media Fire to upload files and share the link in the next reply.

    • **The Panther logs.**Files named Setupact.log and Setuperr.log from the following path C:$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther
    • **The Rollback logs:**These usually are created if Windows Update rolls back. Files named Setupact.log and Setuperr.log from the following path C:$Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback
    • **[Only if the error code is 0xC1900101-0x30018]**The Device Install Log from C:/$Windows.~bt\Sources\Rollback\setupapi\setupapi.dev.log

    You can open the folder directly by pasting the path in Run dialog box.

    Sadly I still can not get it updated. Throughout the day I've had it do many different little updates but it now seems like it wants to stop with this error: 0x8007002 - 0x20007 The Installation Failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during INSTALL_DRIVERS operation. I've preformed what was suggested several times. And I've used the Media Creation Tool and I don't think the issue is with the download. It seems to download fine. On the process of the multiple restarts is when the error occurs. I've check the drivers and they all seem to be fine - now. They weren't there was one that was an issue and seems to have come from blue tooth but I took care of that one. And even though the error points to a driver issue my seem to be alright.

    DebraK1 - have you found anything that has worked yet? I've been troubleshooting this for two weeks and still have not found the solution. My system indicates there is no corruption but I can not get past "your device is missing important security & quality fixes". I can't identify what security & quality fixes are missing and I can't get Windows 10 to do an update.

    Please try installing the latest feature update manually and let us know.

    The fastest way to get the upgrade is through the Media creation tool or ISO file.

    Please download the Media Creation Tool and select "Upgrade this PC now".
