Windows 10 says I have no internet connection, but I have.

I am running on Windows 10 Enterprise, Version 2004, OS Build 19041.264.

I recently changed to the Windows Insider Program and updated Windows. In the taskbar, the Wi-Fi icon shows No Internet Access, but I have a stable internet connection wirelessly (Ex: I can browse the internet, ping IP Addresses, etc.). Another problem is when I try to open Cortana it also says that I have no internet connection (By the way, I can also open Microsoft's website).

As I know Windows checks internet connectivity with this URL: http://msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt. But this gives Error 404, File Not Found. Maybe it is because of this?

If you know the problem or an answer, please help. Thanks!

Hello, use Registry Editor, go to: 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet

and modify: EnableActiveProbing

then change "Value data" from "0" to "1"

and restart your computer

The proper one is

"HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\NetworkConnectivityStatusIndicator\” -Name UseGlobalDNS -PropertyType DWORD -Value 1 -Force

But the more appropriate way to do this is not through registry directly, but through group policy config:

    Hi guys,

    For me none of the workarounds worked... So after some time of research I figured out that a simple ping to dns.msftncsi.com is not working, something happens with their servers...

    After reading

    about the NCSI, I just changed in the registry the following configuration to point the old MS servers:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet]

    "ActiveDnsProbeContent"="88.221.52.97"

    "ActiveDnsProbeHost"="www.msftncsi.com"

    "ActiveWebProbeContent"="Microsoft NCSI"

    "ActiveWebProbeHost"="www.msftncsi.com"

    "ActiveWebProbePath"="ncsi.txt"

    "EnableActiveProbing"=dword:00000001

    And voilà, working again :)

    From the beggining I was suspocious why there is broadcast adress for DNS server(s): 131.107.255.255. I thought that even so IP packets whould be send to proper subnet. Now I think that it might be blocked be my ISP.

    What is even stranger. When I set google DNS there (dns.google.com: 8.8.4.4) it somehow worked but I had to enable WiFi network even when I have properly working Ethernet connection. ****?

    Its Unbelievable so here I was with 16GB of ram and my network status showed I was not connected...put in 16GB of more ram and for some reason its saying You're connected to then internet! Only could this happen to win10 MS.

    I know it shouldn't but it did. 

    ....and its broken again its now seeing if I have internet out Ethernet 7 that has no gateway set.
