Windows 10 says I have no internet connection, but I have.

I am running on Windows 10 Enterprise, Version 2004, OS Build 19041.264.

I recently changed to the Windows Insider Program and updated Windows. In the taskbar, the Wi-Fi icon shows No Internet Access, but I have a stable internet connection wirelessly (Ex: I can browse the internet, ping IP Addresses, etc.). Another problem is when I try to open Cortana it also says that I have no internet connection (By the way, I can also open Microsoft's website).

As I know Windows checks internet connectivity with this URL: http://msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt. But this gives Error 404, File Not Found. Maybe it is because of this?

If you know the problem or an answer, please help. Thanks!

Hello, use Registry Editor, go to: 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet

and modify: EnableActiveProbing

then change "Value data" from "0" to "1"

and restart your computer

The proper one is

"HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\NetworkConnectivityStatusIndicator\” -Name UseGlobalDNS -PropertyType DWORD -Value 1 -Force

But the more appropriate way to do this is not through registry directly, but through group policy config:

    Might want to search;

    msftconnecttest, minitools

    And first try resetting the default app protocols for http and https even if set already & resetting internet options for IExplore to defaults.  Rather than messing with the registry setting or hosts fiddling.

    So I have read through the whole thread now. I quity understand better now what's happening when microsoft tries to check for internet connection.

    I am working with a citrix enviroment and have recently deployed a new image with Windows 10 2004 (previous was 1903). The problem occured after the deployment, but was not directly recognized, because everything works except the microsoft apps (and Office Accounts). Users are not able to connect to onenote account or similar.

    Now, My users get a proxy server set via GPO at logon for internet access. The virtual Windows 10 Machines do not have Internet Access (blocked by firewall) I can see that while logging in, Windows 10 tries to connect to the above mentioned IP adress (13.107.4.52, and many more...). The problem is that it tries to connect to those IPs via HTTP directly, logically, because the session is still logging on and the proxy may not be set yet. Also, I don't know exactly with which user the connection test is performed. 

    However, with version 1903 this was not a problem with same proxy and blocked internet acces for the VMs. What was changed by microsoft? Is there maybe a way to get the connection test to be performed over Proxy?
