Windows 10 says I have no internet connection, but I have.

I am running on Windows 10 Enterprise, Version 2004, OS Build 19041.264.

I recently changed to the Windows Insider Program and updated Windows. In the taskbar, the Wi-Fi icon shows No Internet Access, but I have a stable internet connection wirelessly (Ex: I can browse the internet, ping IP Addresses, etc.). Another problem is when I try to open Cortana it also says that I have no internet connection (By the way, I can also open Microsoft's website).

As I know Windows checks internet connectivity with this URL: http://msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt. But this gives Error 404, File Not Found. Maybe it is because of this?

If you know the problem or an answer, please help. Thanks!

Hello, use Registry Editor, go to: 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet

and modify: EnableActiveProbing

then change "Value data" from "0" to "1"

and restart your computer

The proper one is

"HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\NetworkConnectivityStatusIndicator\” -Name UseGlobalDNS -PropertyType DWORD -Value 1 -Force

But the more appropriate way to do this is not through registry directly, but through group policy config:

    i'm missing the www. part in the URL:

    -> https://msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt versus http://www.msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt

    (Why Microsoft does not fix this (A-record/Cname/ ..  i have no Idea)

    Let’s look at how this looks. When you set up an A record for example.com you associate it with the 93.184.216.34 IP address. However, that doesn’t include domain aliases, such as www.example.com. That’s right, even adding a www before the domain name won’t lead you to the correct website unless a CNAME record exists to provide instructions that those two domains are to result in the same page.

    For reference .. not all my settings were like: (but for now it is working for 2.4ghz - OK; 5ghz - not OK ...?)

    The CORRECT values are:

    Make sure all of these are populated with these EXACT values and then reboot. 

    Next, if wait for the problem scenario to happen again.   If it does: 

    1. Open an elevated command prompt.

    Start menu  ->  type cmd -> right-click “Command Prompt” -> select “Run as administrator” 

    1. Copy/paste this command

    1. Wait 30 seconds
    2. Disconnect network.  If wired, unplug ethernet.  If wireless, disconnect wifi.
    3. Wait 60 seconds
    4. Reconnect network.  If wired, plug back in cable.  If wireless, connect wifi
    5. Wait 120 seconds
    6. In command prompt type

    Same issue. Already troubleshooted and no solution. Also tried some of the things on the forum, but still no luck. Really annoying as some functions in Windows depend on this and I can't use them. It started today morning.
