Windows 10 says I have no internet connection, but I have.

I am running on Windows 10 Enterprise, Version 2004, OS Build 19041.264.

I recently changed to the Windows Insider Program and updated Windows. In the taskbar, the Wi-Fi icon shows No Internet Access, but I have a stable internet connection wirelessly (Ex: I can browse the internet, ping IP Addresses, etc.). Another problem is when I try to open Cortana it also says that I have no internet connection (By the way, I can also open Microsoft's website).

As I know Windows checks internet connectivity with this URL: http://msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt. But this gives Error 404, File Not Found. Maybe it is because of this?

If you know the problem or an answer, please help. Thanks!

Hello, use Registry Editor, go to: 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet

and modify: EnableActiveProbing

then change "Value data" from "0" to "1"

and restart your computer

The proper one is

"HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\NetworkConnectivityStatusIndicator\” -Name UseGlobalDNS -PropertyType DWORD -Value 1 -Force

But the more appropriate way to do this is not through registry directly, but through group policy config:

    Hi to all,

    Me and the 300 machines I manage started to have this problem.

    This is because we migrated from native L2TP Windows VPN to OpenVPN Access Server only a few weeks ago.

    Actually, I came to this thread because of a OpenVPN Support Ticket. They are aware of this issue and they blame MS for this.

    I think this didn't happen on Windows 10 1909. Now, since I was forced to upgrade to 20H2 since the 1909 EOL, it started to happen more frecuently.

    And, because millions of delayed computers will update in the next days from 1909 to 20H2, Microsoft will have a really bad enterprise nightmire in their rearview mirror...

    There is a fix for this that I discovered after extensive research.  There is an application called WindowsSpyBlocker (look it up on a search engine) that is nicely written, and runs in a command window.  It deals with the Windows Connectivity Status Indicator (you can find the controls for this in the Group Policy Editor).  It appears to be malware free and virus free (according to VirusTotal), and it will give you lots of information on how this system works on your PC.  There is also a description on Microsoft's website of how this system works, although some of the description is out of date (refers to older versions of Win 10).  Anyway, the tool allows you to change the parameters to those used by Mozilla Firefox, and it fixed the problem on my Win 10 Pro PC.  There is a great deal written about this problem, and a few people have found some simple solutions, but none of those solutions worked for me.  This elegant piece of software gives you a 'read-out' how the Windows connectivity status indicator works, and what exactly is wrong that causes the Win 10 OS to believe it has lost contact with the Internet, even though the browsers are still working fine. You can find it at https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/windowsspyblocker.html .  Win 10 calls the system NCSI (use a search engine to locate the acronym, and to find Microsoft's description on how it works).

    Same issue. Already troubleshooted and no solution. Also tried some of the things on the forum, but still no luck. Really annoying as some functions in Windows depend on this and I can't use them. It started today morning.
