Windows 10 says I have no internet connection, but I have.

I am running on Windows 10 Enterprise, Version 2004, OS Build 19041.264.

I recently changed to the Windows Insider Program and updated Windows. In the taskbar, the Wi-Fi icon shows No Internet Access, but I have a stable internet connection wirelessly (Ex: I can browse the internet, ping IP Addresses, etc.). Another problem is when I try to open Cortana it also says that I have no internet connection (By the way, I can also open Microsoft's website).

As I know Windows checks internet connectivity with this URL: http://msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt. But this gives Error 404, File Not Found. Maybe it is because of this?

If you know the problem or an answer, please help. Thanks!

Hello, use Registry Editor, go to: 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet

and modify: EnableActiveProbing

then change "Value data" from "0" to "1"

and restart your computer

The proper one is

"HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\NetworkConnectivityStatusIndicator\” -Name UseGlobalDNS -PropertyType DWORD -Value 1 -Force

But the more appropriate way to do this is not through registry directly, but through group policy config:

    I have this problem on multiple devices, on my work laptop it worked with the regedit of NlaSvc\Paramater\Internet

    But after a restart it reverted and now the \Internet is not even there, I tried to create it by hand but did not help.

    I found a hackish way of bypassing it, by adding the msftconnecttest.com to my C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\Hosts file and have a IIS running that just displays the "Microsoft Content Test" as plain text

    On reboot the IIS is so slow to start up it fails the internet check and I have to disconnect and reconnect the internet adapter to get windows to think it has connection

    Went there and it was already at 1. Im connected to the internet but my computer won’t let me access anything wifi related. It turns on and off, sometimes saying “connected but no internet” or “connected”, I have to fix this soon or else I’ll miss my online classes. Please help.

    guys i've tried this thing like 4 times. i even turned the value data to 0 on my own restarted my pc and turned it back to 1 after but is not working...

    plus in the picture there are more options than what mine shows ...

    i shall also say that windows bar isnt showing the internet connection section. any thoughts?
