Windows 10 says I have no internet connection, but I have.

I am running on Windows 10 Enterprise, Version 2004, OS Build 19041.264.

I recently changed to the Windows Insider Program and updated Windows. In the taskbar, the Wi-Fi icon shows No Internet Access, but I have a stable internet connection wirelessly (Ex: I can browse the internet, ping IP Addresses, etc.). Another problem is when I try to open Cortana it also says that I have no internet connection (By the way, I can also open Microsoft's website).

As I know Windows checks internet connectivity with this URL: http://msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt. But this gives Error 404, File Not Found. Maybe it is because of this?

If you know the problem or an answer, please help. Thanks!

Hello, use Registry Editor, go to: 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet

and modify: EnableActiveProbing

then change "Value data" from "0" to "1"

and restart your computer

The proper one is

"HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\NetworkConnectivityStatusIndicator\” -Name UseGlobalDNS -PropertyType DWORD -Value 1 -Force

But the more appropriate way to do this is not through registry directly, but through group policy config:

    This registry change fixed it for me.  Globe icon replaced with normal internet icon, and Spodify etc now working.  Lots of hoop-jumping required though to find the fix and apply it, and joe-bloggs would not have a hope of fixing this on their own, requiring a call-out fee to a tech to fix something that the update broke.

    EDIT: NO IT DIDN'T F-ING FIX IT!  The fix worked - for about five minutes, now the globe icon is back and moaning about no internet connection again.  It is bovine excrement like this, which is making me use more and more Linux.  I am about to replace this W10 machine with Linux Mint, which just works without any of this ****.  I liked XP, Win7 and even Win8.  But W10 with the forced updates is a major, MAJOR pain in the rear-end with updates that you CAN'T opt out of, breaking things that were working fine before the update.  Very annoyed, as I was pleased that I thought the registry change had fixed it.  I will now apply the notepad edit to the hosts file, which I really hope does actually fix it, but Jesus Microsoft......

    EDIT: The notepad fix did not work either.  IT DID for about an hour, but the globe icon is back, and Windoze is saying I have no internet.....  Sigh.

    add 13.107.4.52 www.msftconnecttest.com (permanently) to your host file.

    That simple solution helped in my case. Non other worked.
