Windows crashing after clicking PERFORMANCE tab under Task Manager

Hello Windows Community folks

Windows 10 keeps crashing after I click Performance TAB in Task Manager. It crashes the windows going into the infamous Green screen with reason- Windows preview build failed. I have tried several debug options like cmd SFC Scan, DISM.

I have not specifically touched registry keys as I am afraid I will end up breaking something else.

What options do I have? Please suggest.

this helped for me,

I changed

NVIDIA System Control > 3D Settings > Global Settings > Preferred GPU

from "NVIDIA high performance processor"

back to "auto select"

    I have same issue , at beginning when I clear formatted my laptop with latest version windows 10 20H2, the performance tab was working fine with no issues but after installing all updates it start crashing my windows with blue screen.

    Exact same issue for me. BSOD when running TaskManager->Performance, every time.

    Fixed by installing NVidia drivers (standard) : 426.78-quadro-desktop-notebook-win10-64bit-international-whql 
    All good now.

    I had the same issue, my Lenovo w530 worked well until upgraded to windows 10 2004. the issue was fixed after installed the nvidia standard windows driver below:

    "426.78-quadro-desktop-notebook-win10-64bit-international-whql"

    My system:  Lenovo W530, Nvidia Quadro K1000M

    updated to 20H2 - problem remained.

    uninstalled all NVidia drivers, problem went away.

    allowed windows update to install the drivers it wanted.  Problem returned.  

    Nvidia site led me to the latest drivers, but pushed me the DCH version which refuses to install.

    Your filename hint (without the DCH) was exactly what I needed.  System is stable again.  Thank you.

    MS should get the newer version onto Windows update.  this was far too painful to find solution.

    Updating my Nvidia drivers fixed it for me, also Nvidia (GT740-M)+Intel Video(HD4600) on laptop.

    Unfortunately Nvidia 377.55 is the highest version my W520  (intel graphics 3000 / Nvidia quadro 1000m) would take, the Nvidia 426.78 would not install (stated not compatible) ... as stated before a workaround is to just use the intel processor if the NVidia drivers don't cut it .... thanks to all for the input ....
