Windows crashing after clicking PERFORMANCE tab under Task Manager

Hello Windows Community folks

Windows 10 keeps crashing after I click Performance TAB in Task Manager. It crashes the windows going into the infamous Green screen with reason- Windows preview build failed. I have tried several debug options like cmd SFC Scan, DISM.

I have not specifically touched registry keys as I am afraid I will end up breaking something else.

What options do I have? Please suggest.

Thanks

J

Thanks,

this helped for me,

I changed

NVIDIA System Control > 3D Settings > Global Settings > Preferred GPU

from "NVIDIA high performance processor"

back to "auto select"

    SOLVED!!!
I've the SAME problem while upgrading from Win 8 to W10 21H2.
The problem was caused by Nvidia standard drivers suggested and installed by Windows Update.
I've downloaded from Nvidia the latest drivers for my VGA (Nvidia GeForce GGT740M on HP Pavilion 15-n066sl notebook with Intel i7 processor)
    Now, it works correctly.

    Hey,

I had open a thread about that before.

And a member helped with this solution  :

    •  Uninstall the drivers of your  intergrated video cards (intel  and  Nvidia or AMD)
    •  Restart computer.
    •  Run WINDOWS UPDATE.
    •  RUN sfc/scannow in admin mode.
    •  Go to official Nvidia or AMD   website and get the latest drivers for  your computer or Go to your   manufacturer's website and get your  drivers  there.

    It'll fix it.

Just want to drop this here. My laptop is a W530 Lenovo ThinkPad. I had the same problem after updating to 2004 & 20H2. I tracked it down to the Nvidia Quadro k1000m driver. Windows uses a default driver that is older than the version you can find from the Nvidia website. Here is the link.

NVIDIA DRIVERS Quadro Desktop/Quadro Notebook Driver Release 418 WHQL

    Best of luck to you.

Hey Microsoft! I've been dealing with this issue since my laptop updated during the summer of 2020! Fix this issue already!
