Windows 10 2004 optimization/defrag bug

All I know is that when you check  disk optimizer, it wil say that your  SSD has never been optimized and that it needs  to be optimized. If you do this, it will trim the SSD, as it is supposed to to. The problem is that it then 'forgets' that it has optimized the SSD. The next time you start your computer, it will say that the SSD has never been optimized and that it needs optimization. 

If you do a manual maintenance (via control panel, security and maintenance), then Windows starts defragging the SSD, which it is not supposed to do and then, again, forgets that it has done so the next time you start your computer. I know, it sounds weird...  

Following a closed thread I opened Task Scheduler and looked under the defrag node. I had the optimization app set for weekly, but the defrag action had I think "forgotten" to include a trigger. Could be interconnected with the "never run" aspect of things?

That is a good thought but personally I feel we should not have to go out and hunt for workarounds to this. This is clearly a MS problem they introduced with their flawed Version 2004 update along with the annoying push notification a lot of members are getting about needing to fix their account in that worthless Shared Experiences in Settings and also Edge Chromium and Chrome not showing your saved passwords unless you sign into your accounts so they can see what you are doing on the web. These three are just a few of the bugs that Ver. 2004 has let loose in our computers and MS needs to kill these bugs with a fix. I am going to wait for a fix to be deployed as I fear more damage will be done trying to solve problems MS created. I do not know what MS considers having a smooth experience but this has been far from that.

Dude, same issues here.

Everything runs slow. System has strange hangs and freezes. Programs fail to respond for a while.

And today suddenly system didn't boot, and had to use USB to fix MBR!!

Seriously Microsoft needs to handle the issues and fix the 2004 version as it's just BAD!!!

All you have to do is add your voice and problem to the Feedback Hub. I am sure MS knows about these issues going on but the problem is when and if they act on them through update fixes which will be on the next patch Tuesday on July 14th but they may surprise us all and release a couple earlier. If it were me I would stop tweaking  the settings on your computer. If you can I would roll your computer back to the version it was on before if you are still inside the 10 day cutoff period.  Now as far as your defrag problem you need to go to your defrag app and go down to the "schedule" and make sure it is on then  click on "change settings"  then under optimization click on  run on a schedule and set the frequency to weekly. Now go down to "drives"  and click on "choose" and when that opens uncheck the Windows (C) "if you have an SSD" where Windows files is located then check Data (D): which will be your hard drive where you store pics, videos etc etc. Now I have both an SSD and an HDD. I realize it will keep saying Never Run and MS knows this as well but I am sure they are working on this as this problem has been written up in many Windows websites. All these little bugs drive me crazy as well but there is nothing you and I can do about them as like I said MS created the problems in their flawed update and MS needs to fix them.

I filed 1 bug in 1804.

One in 1809. One in 1904. One in 1909. And one in 2004....its been 2 years.
