Hi all
I've just completed the Windows 10 2004 upgrade and I have noticed 2 issues.
This seem to only happen when Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Security and Maintenance initiates its automatic maintenance or if I select start maintenance.
This is concerning as it should never attempt to defrag an SSD.
My laptop is only a few months old and came with a PCIe SSD and Windows 10 1909 so there is no compatibility or lack of trim support issues obviously.
I have disabled scheduled weekly optimizations in the defrag/optimize tool which prevents it from attempting to defrag when the control penal maintenance attempts its maintenance when the computer is idle.
I want to let everyone know that this is happening so others are aware. My other computers that have the latest update are also doing it.

The latest optional update KB4571744 likely has fixed the SSD Defrag issue in version 2004.
👍 This morning I installed it manually from the .cab file via the command: DISM / Online / Add-Package / PackagePath:
because after I checked manually there is no KB4571744 except for the definition update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus. I have to wait about 2 hours during the install process because I still use HDD.
My current version of Windows 10: Windows 10 OS Version 2009 (Build 19042.487)
thank you

Thank you. I updated but disabled the defrag feature on my SSD.
Please stop posting about fixes or updates in insider builds, which is totally irrelevant for stable build.
yes. It seems that it's for Insiders only. I am quoting the last paragraph from the Windows Latest website
Today, Microsoft has published a new update for testers in the Beta Channel and it includes the fix for the defragmentation tool.
According to the changelog of Build 19042.487, this issue has now been resolved in Windows 10 20H2. After beta testing the patch with Insiders, Microsoft plans to roll out the same update to those with Windows 10 May 2020 Update (2004) later this week or before September 1.
You'll also receive these fixes if you skip the optional update and install the September 2020 Patch Tuesday update instead.
