Windows 10 version 2004 "Your Device is not ready"

I have the same message before, but then it changed to "The Windows 10 2020 Update is on its way. Once it's ready for your device, you'll see the update available on this page". So now it is clear that the update is not yet compatible on my device, instead of telling me that my device is not yet ready as if I have to do something for it to get the latest windows update.

That's what my computer did.  Two feature updates back, my system simply would not take the upgrade.  I got help but their industrial strength utilities would brick my machine and I had to restore from an Acronis rolling backup.  There were other things, and I eventually simply reinstalled my operating system.  The last time (to 1909) it went OK.  When the upgrade to 2004 failed, I looked at the referenced pages on v2004 and updated my graphics driver (it was up to date anyway) and made an installation DVD, which noted that my system has unsupported "settings" and to wait.  A day or so later, I started getting the "...on the way..." notice on my Update screen.  This saved me from looking at the logs and going back to the industrial strength utilities.

This is enough for me.  They don't tell me what "settings" are the problem, but they do tell me that they know what the "settings" are and are working on updating computers with those "settings" and expect to have the update working for me "soon".  I would like to know what the "settings" are but I'm not curious enough to go looking for the logs and interpreting them; I didn't have much luck with that back when the problem wasn't solvable.

Thanks for your reply. I got the same error message. Maybe the only difference is that my Dell laptop is that it is in S mode.  I got the 1900209 error. Your answer made the most sense.

I had the same issue, tried the microsoft upgrade tool mentioned in the beginning of the thread - and this one also gives me no meaningful information, see following picture. The German text says that my pc setup is not jet supported by the new version. 

But again no indicator at all about the issue itself, and the links go to the page which is also linked in the normal update page. 

That would be bad enough, but it seems it was not enough for Microsoft: the title of the screen means "what you should take care about"!

Not very nice to indicate that I should do something, and then giving no indication at all what I should do.

btw: the "update" button is not greyed out, but the screen clearly says that an upgrade is not possible. 

I had better experiences than this one...
