Windows 10 version 2004 "Your Device is not ready"

Microsoft is still waiting on drivers from some vendors. Many gaming devices have Nvidia graphic cards and they are still working on drivers. A couple other examples are... some Realtek sound drivers and some Intel video drivers are not done. Microsoft does not make all the components that are in the machine -- nobody does -- everybody relies on many vendors. I have heard the fixes for the Surface machines are done and should be released in a couple of weeks after testing. This is a rolling release and is still an optional update only for machines that are ready. So not a bug -- it is by design. Slow rollout and they are starting to use Artificial Intelligence to monitor and guide the release. Pretty cool really.

I have a high end gaming desktop. Modern and up to date. I7 processor. 1080 GPU 16GB ram. Standard software and hardware. Running latest Windows 10 Pro.  I'm showing as not ready. 

Funny thing is my son has a high end gaming laptop with standard software, hardware, drivers, Windows 10 Pro. Also, not ready. 

I have also have a Microsoft Surface Pro with windows 10 Pro. It's about as windows compatible as can be. The freaking thing is built by Microsoft.  -  Not ready.

My wife also has a Microsoft Surface Laptop with windows 10 Pro. She got hers 6 months ago.  Also designed by Microsoft obviously. If that's not standard and compatible, I don't know what is.  -  Not Ready.

All 4 PC's with Windows 10 Pro not ready.  2 of them are Surface devices.

If Microsoft can't have their update compatible with "their own" recent devices that they themselves designed, then I don't know what would qualify as compatible.  More likely a bug.

Poor stuff from Microsoft? The update is being pushed out in a slow rollout. You obviously didn't want to wait and did it manually. You took the chance and it worked out fine. How is that bad? You had two options, wait for MS to release update to you, or go for it. Sounds great!

Great! Worked for me as well. Thanks for the clue. But poor stuff from Microsoft. Works via the Update Assistant and not via the Windows Update?? Why?

I do not recommend updating now. Let's wait for at least a month. The update itself isn't ready yet and most of our computers have Conexant, Realtek, Intel Graphics and other incompatible components. Even if your computer can update, it is recommended for you to wait for a while if you don't want BSOD. I had to reset my computer after 1903 since the BSOD loops every five minutes and I do not want anyone to fall into that update trap again. (I use HP Elite X2 1012-G2 with 1909, which is full of Conexant, Realtek and Intel stuff.)
