Windows 10 version 2004 "Your Device is not ready"

completely agree.  I cannot work out who they are aiming at with this dreadful,shabby product with it's mountain of issues.

I have four old (vintage 2008/2009) desktop computers and an old (vintage 2009) laptop.  Three of the desktops and the laptop are running Windows 10 Home Edition, and all took the Windows 10 Version 2004 feature update without any issues.  The remaining desktop is running Windows 10 Pro and it keeps getting the "not ready" message - I check it every day.

Based on this small sample, my guess is that the Version 2004 feature update isn't yet available for computers that are running Windows 10 Pro.

No, my Windows 10 Pro machines are running great.

It appears to me that you have isolated a thread of my problem, because I also have Windows 10 Pro - which was included in a Western Digital Solid State Drive upgrade. I do not know if it has anything to do with the problem, BUT that upgrade replaced my previous Windows 7 Home version. Conclusion: Microsoft has us users playing guessing games.   Thanks, Grant Collar

I finally discovered what seems to be the reason why my old Windows 10 Pro desktop isn't yet ready for the Version 2004 feature update.  According to the information from the relevant "Learn more" page that accompanies the notice, in addition to a list of a bunch of yet unresolved problems, it seems that there are compatibility issues with some NVIDIA Legacy GPUs (link to the list: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/unix/legacy-gpu/) .  My old desktop has one of them - NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430.  The problem is being investigated, and Microsoft & NVIDIA are supposedly working on developing an update to fix it.

Tried this myself a few times always same result

got through update until you think its almost done then go into reverse back to where you started.

Back at the beginning of win 10 I did not like the way it works, still don't.

It feels like MS are trying to take total control of everything and treat us all as though we know nothing at all about computers.

There are a lot of us out here who could teach MS a thing or two but they refuse to listen (as usual)

Well, on Monday, 8/17. I finally received the update notice that Windows 10 Version 2004 is now available for my old PC.  Of course, having anxiously waited for it for well over 2 months, I went ahead and started it.  The process took quite a while to complete.  The result, however, was unpleasant.  There was an issue with the display - it kept flashing and acting strangely, which I found unacceptable.  So, guess what?  I decided to roll Windows 10 back to Version 1909, and will wait until Microsoft cleans the glitches in Version 2004 that's suitable for my PC.

They originally had a notice on their website that they were working with NVIDIA on getting driver updates for the legacy display adapters.  It appears that they did, but whatever NVIDIA produced isn't working properly.  Hopefully, they'll fix it.
