Windows 10 version 2004 "Your Device is not ready"

I have had two failures . Both of them occurred from the windows update assistant. Both machines are quite capable. I had time after the first failure to update from a 2004 image on usb . That worked fine. If you do not have a ton of data to back up and restore. I suggest just doing a fresh image.

I have four old (vintage 2008/2009) desktop computers and an old (vintage 2009) laptop.  Three of the desktops and the laptop are running Windows 10 Home Edition, and all took the Windows 10 Version 2004 feature update without any issues.  The remaining desktop is running Windows 10 Pro and it keeps getting the "not ready" message - I check it every day.

Based on this small sample, my guess is that the Version 2004 feature update isn't yet available for computers that are running Windows 10 Pro.

After spending nearly half an hour updating my pc with version 2004, using windows update assist,  the download stopped and a message said the download was not ready for the settings on my computer and they would let me know when the new version was available.  Typical Windows!

I also would really like a different message than 'your computer is not ready'.

Maybe then I could do something to make it ready.

Or maybe the problem isn't me, but actually is 'we're rolling stuff out slowly and due to detected hardware conflicts which might occur on your system, we're holding back the update for now'

The update assistant says there's no new updates by the way.

Just FYI : trying to upgrade a 4-5 y/o Lenovo Thinkcenter with W10 Pro : the Windows Update route just failed with a non specific error message, then the update itself disappeared from my update page, replaced with information that 2004 is here and will be available soon. So I went the Upgrade Assistant way instead : contrary to earlier reports here, the Assistant is now also producing the Not Ready message. I know, I just got it. They've obviously made sure you don't/can't upgrade if they don't want you to.

So I wait.

Actually the issues are for Realtek, Conexant or Intel to work out. Microsoft does not develop third party drivers. Obviously, the drivers in question are not yet certified for the latest release. And... technically there is no issue, as these are rolling releases and your machine will be updated when ready.
