Windows 10 version 2004 "Your Device is not ready"

Tried this myself a few times always same result

got through update until you think its almost done then go into reverse back to where you started.

Back at the beginning of win 10 I did not like the way it works, still don't.

It feels like MS are trying to take total control of everything and treat us all as though we know nothing at all about computers.

There are a lot of us out here who could teach MS a thing or two but they refuse to listen (as usual)

Well, on Monday, 8/17. I finally received the update notice that Windows 10 Version 2004 is now available for my old PC.  Of course, having anxiously waited for it for well over 2 months, I went ahead and started it.  The process took quite a while to complete.  The result, however, was unpleasant.  There was an issue with the display - it kept flashing and acting strangely, which I found unacceptable.  So, guess what?  I decided to roll Windows 10 back to Version 1909, and will wait until Microsoft cleans the glitches in Version 2004 that's suitable for my PC.

They originally had a notice on their website that they were working with NVIDIA on getting driver updates for the legacy display adapters.  It appears that they did, but whatever NVIDIA produced isn't working properly.  Hopefully, they'll fix it.

Just fyi, if someone has a similar issue than I had:

I identified the issue on my machine that seemed to cause the upgrade stop.

When I analyzed the software stack on my machine manually after not getting any meaningful info from MS, I noticed that the installed version of "8GadgetPack" was outdated (v29).

Since this tool was always inactivated during the last few win10 upgrades (I needed to update or at least reactivate the software afterwards manually), I thought that maybe the current version of the win upgrade tool might deal slightly different with this software.

So I applied the latest version (v33) of 8GadgetPack and retried the "Windwows 10 Update-Assistent" afterwards. 

This time the upgrade process worked. 

I again had to reactivate 8GadgetPack afterwards - the upgrade inactivated the software same way it also happened during the last few successful win upgrades. But that was all.

I still don't know why I had to find this out by myself, without any info of the assistent, since such a software incompatibility should be easy to report by a tool. Anyhow...

No.  When you clean reinstall 3 PCs amd each has different network problems, and all respond differently to attempts to make them see or be seen, you despair of Windows.  In the end, I shared the four main folders with everyone and did a network reset on all 3 at the same time. Most of the suggestions on Google, particularly starting services and changing them to automatic were useless.

Instead of treating each PC individually(one could not  be seen or see One could see and be seen by 2 (one itself), a third was perfect most of the time, then became erratic which caused my final, successful attempt.   

So synchronising sharing and a network reset solved my problem.
