Apps keep pinning themselves on startup to the task bar, how do I stop this?

Whenever I boot up my laptop MSI dragon center and xbox (beta) would be pinned to the task bar. I had to unpin everytime I use my laptop. How do I put an end to this? Please help. Thanks

This solved the problem for me.

C:\Users(youruserhere)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\LayoutModification.xml

Looking for this line

CustomTaskbarLayoutCollection PinListPlacement="Replace"

I did a ctrl+f and searched "custom"

Found the lines with xbox app and dragon center app

Removed them and saved xml

Rebooted and they didnt show back up.

    Thanks for sharing, this worked perfectly! For some reason, there wasn't an app data folder in my user folder but I just searched for the file and that pulled it up.

    Hi, I have tried your suggestion, actually went into XML and deleted the offending lines, but to no avail! The two offending tiles are still on the task bar!

    Any other suggestions to get rid of them?

    I did this exact same thing! Found those 3 lines, deleted them, rebooted, the lines are back and so are the icons. Was looking for the SAVE button after deleting, but it wasn't there. Maybe that's my problem?
