Apps keep pinning themselves on startup to the task bar, how do I stop this?

Whenever I boot up my laptop MSI dragon center and xbox (beta) would be pinned to the task bar. I had to unpin everytime I use my laptop. How do I put an end to this? Please help. Thanks

This solved the problem for me.

C:\Users(youruserhere)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\LayoutModification.xml

Looking for this line

CustomTaskbarLayoutCollection PinListPlacement="Replace"

I did a ctrl+f and searched "custom"

Found the lines with xbox app and dragon center app

Removed them and saved xml

Rebooted and they didnt show back up.

    Hey! I had the same problem. What I did to solve this problem is pressing the windows key, Typing Xbox, When you see the Xbox App you will right click it then press uninstall

    THIS WORKS!! If you can't find the PinListPlacement, What I did was find CustomTaskbarLayoutCollection and then underneath that will have the dragoncenter and the xbox live app and just deleted those two things, and it worked! (Sorry I'm not to smart in computers to  write the actual terms but it worked it!)

    This worked perfectly my MSI GS66 Stealth! 

    Remember to "unpin" these prior to reboot, or they will still be there.

    I did this exact same thing! Found those 3 lines, deleted them, rebooted, the lines are back and so are the icons. Was looking for the SAVE button after deleting, but it wasn't there. Maybe that's my problem?
