Apps keep pinning themselves on startup to the task bar, how do I stop this?

Whenever I boot up my laptop MSI dragon center and xbox (beta) would be pinned to the task bar. I had to unpin everytime I use my laptop. How do I put an end to this? Please help. Thanks

This solved the problem for me.

C:\Users(youruserhere)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\LayoutModification.xml

Looking for this line

CustomTaskbarLayoutCollection PinListPlacement="Replace"

I did a ctrl+f and searched "custom"

Found the lines with xbox app and dragon center app

Removed them and saved xml

Rebooted and they didnt show back up.

    Just wanted to mention that I have the EXACT same issue.

    Dragon Center and Xbox (Beta) *repin* themselves to the taskbar. Only those two apps.

    I even reset the taskbar here:

    It got rid of everything, but come restart, Dragon Center and Xbox (Beta) were back again, the only apps pinned.

    Thanks for keeping me sane, I was about to lose my mind with this new computer.

    This has to be an issue with MSI specifically or the dragon center. Have a similar (2020 model) MSI laptop and the same exact two apps keep pinning themselves.

    In search Bar type in *Local Group Policy Editor*

    *Under User configuration* Look for Administrative Hit Arrow down then Look for *Start Menu and Taskbar* Click it.. After that look for *Do not allow pinning programs to the taskbar double click box will pop up hit Disabled then Apply Reboot then see if that helps
