The new Update is here! Windows 10 2004.

I have a question.  Since your stupid update rendered my computer useless are you going to replace it or not? I feel the Microsoft corporation should be held accountable for this failure. In the future I will be sure to buy Sony and Mac products as they have proven reliability and Microsoft does not. Microsoft owes me an explanation and a new lap top and I will be using Linux instead of windows. If anyone else reads this , please join me in holding Microsoft accountable for this outrageous fiasco.

I have the experience of updating to 2004 on 6 desktops, 3 laptops, the experience on all were completely different.

The ancient (at least 12 years old) desktop worked with flying colours, and is up to 20H2 and cumulative update already.

But I had 2 ASUS desktops that refused time after time, eventually the newest loaded but gave a black screen after login, that was fatal as even safe mode failed to work, I had to perform a full fresh install error free !!!!

The other at the 10th attempt at bedtime, was upgraded by morning,

2 other desktops loaded fine first time the others required work around suggested on other threads here.

my main (very new) laptop is fine, my old retired laptop (keyboard faulty) is refusing to down load 2004 despite saying it is available, the other current problem with this laptop is windows search feature not working due to a previous version upgrade. I am stupidly expecting the upgrade to fix the "search" issue, (an attempt at a fresh install keeping my apps failed).

I dread MS announcing an upgrade, most requiring latte nights to fix issues with the upgrade.

"Latte" nights huh? I don't do "lattes", but I do do Paul Masson's any night, so I tolerate. LOL! I know you meant "late" nights, because I have them too!

It still surprises me how many the variety of problems are with this update. I've said many times that, I am a Windows Insider, and we are supposed to get the rough edges of the updates, so that when you get them, the "bugs" are all worked out. Doesn't seem to be the case here though.

I stated in earlier posts that it appears that most of the "issues" are with prebuilt systems. Laptops are notoriously inefficient in installing this update. You have 6 desktops, I have 2 that I custom built, and they are updating with efficiency. My laptops, that I also customized, are also taking the updates in stride. I have heard nothing..., crickets, from MS when I throw this dynamic into the mix. But I am all but certain that there is a nexus between prebuilt, and update failure. Now, you may trash that theory by telling me that all of your systems are prebuilt. I'll wait....

No desktops all home built, 1 "laptop" is one my son built and gave to me as a gift, a laptop bastardised into a home made desktop WOODEN box. (but it upgrades so far).

You may correct as most home builds use Stock chipsets, Processors, GPU's and drivers. Most branded desktops I have had the pleasure of opening up are unrecognisable in comparison, laptops use bespoke mother boards and drivers.

Well, that takes care of that! I have no answers. I went back and resubmitted my theory, and I haven't heard back yet.

A "wooden box"? Now that's wild!
