The new Update is here! Windows 10 2004.

Just so everyone is aware of why Windows 10 quality has been so poor--

Microsoft made the decision to eliminate the jobs of their Windows test team.  It is now the developers who are responsible for testing their own work.  This leads to a conflict of interest with inadequate testing being done prior to rolling out software to PRODUCTION.

[Moderator Edit: Clearing up some Misinformation in terms of the comment above in green. It has always been the developer's responsibility to test their own work during development. Microsoft does have folk who test the update before it reaches the Windows Insider rings to make sure it complies with their Quality Assurance (QA) tests**]**

Users, just like you and me, have now become the testers, and Windows 10 includes features that send information to Microsoft in the event of failures.  With enough failure reports, the software should, in theory, eventually be fixed by the development team.  This is a cost savings measure from Microsoft.

Okay so I have tried ISO USB update assistant and run the update Windows update today September 1st 2020

I ran Windows update where the update runs several times RN on the Final Phase it fails again this is ridiculous

I ENVY those of you who cannot get the update!  Unfortunately, I was able to and it completely hosed my computer.

I began getting the seizure-inducing extremely bright and super fast flickering screen of death... or the blank WHITE screen of death.... or the PIXELATED screen of death upon waking computer from sleep mode.  Had to manually turn off/on the computer (so many darned times) since I could not use the mouse on flickering screen.  Spent almost a whole day with this UTTER NONSENSE.

It screwed up my drivers + other things (settings.)  In searching for  Answers on line, I came to realize it was the LATEST AND GREATEST update (ahem!) from MS causing all these problems.  My neighbor has problems now too.  The web is literally flooded with complaints about this update.   One poor woman spent $150 getting the geek squad to fix her broken computer, only to be told it was the update that caused her computer problems.  Good Job MS!!

Sooooo, I opted to roll back to my previous version of win 10.  more hours spent.  That also created some problems with drivers, BUT my computer is working as it did before the update--PERFECTLY!

Now the problem is:  I can only defer getting the NEW update until October 10 when it will be FORCED down my throat once again.   I have the 'home edition' so I cannot use the supposed work-around for those of you that have the 'pro-version.'

some additional tidbits.  I do not see anything in the windows event logs related to the failed update install.

Beyond frustrating!  Microsoft you need to either stop the feature updates or slow them down to one a year.   Why keep releasing updates that fail for a lot of your customers?  The Fall update is getting close and I still can't get the May update installed.

Don't you get logs from failed updates?  Do you even use them?

Life long Microsoft guy but I am rapidly losing confidence in you.
