Help Fix event 642 [SOLVED]

I had my settings on 'deferred feature updates', but in June my Windows just went and installed the 2004 update all by itself when shutting down one day, no warning, nothing.

Now I can't even find the 'deferred feature updates'-setting.

I thought you could defer the feature update by 6 or 12 months, right? Or at least in the past.

I don't experience a real slow down somewhere, but I get random crashes/reboots, sometimes while gaming but other times just browsing the web and watching a stream or something.

With a heavy system load, I get it, I just update my drivers. But when just doing some minor load? Really?

And the 'event 642' error is always present (that's what got me here).

My biggest issue, my Windows always gets unstable after a feature update. EVERY. TIME. Not just some minor inconveniences here and there, no no, crashing applications and/or the OS.

I always delay the feature update, and when time comes, I'll just format and do a clean install. But not this time apparently.

Oh, and by the way, the only real feature that would actually help me, is two graphics settings called 'Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling' and 'Variable refresh rate'. These settings should help with stuttering a stream or video on my second monitor while gaming on my primary.

But instead it **** everything up. The stuttering was worse than before the feature and I had to disable these features to even be able to implement my own workaround fix again (that actually works!).

What you were saying was completely true.  After updating 2004, my computer is logged in the MS account unconsciously.  Before updating windows, I was using my computer logging in to local account automatically, but after updating the OS this time, log in design is changed, new Edge was installed, even the cell movement in Excel is drastically slowed down!

I logged out from MS account and logged in my local account, the cell movement was smooth like an oiled machine!

Logging in the MS account at the beginning makes all the troubles.

Off course, I shouldn't deny that some parts of the troubles are my fault, because clicking buttons without checking what's going to happen while the update are going on, but I thought this much difference would not happen.

All the Apps. are slowed down.  New Edge is still slower than the old version even after logged off from MS account.

MS might be thinking that the wide range change would make all windows users happy, but I don't think so at all.

Stable OS is necessary, but troublesome OS is unnecessary!!

So far, I was believing in MS that they could settle many troubles by updating the OS, but the things turns out to be completely opposite!  They sometimes CREATES more troubles by updating users computer system automatically than the users were suffering from before. 

From now on, I should be very careful in updating my PC.  I would not click 'yes' buttons to the optional changes which seems to be recommended by MS, or changes that I don't need.

Don't you think so?

I just updated to 2004 yesterday morning (June 11th).  Since then, I also have a bunch of "642 ESENT database format" Event Log entries.  However, here is the symptom that started since upgrading that made me go look in the Event Log in the first place:  After a certain number of hours of inactivity (not sleep mode), when I go to use the computer again, it seems that I can not open many (perhaps all?) win32 applications. 

This problem of  "ESENT error 642,  svchost (4208,D,50) SRUJet: The database format feature version 9180 (0x23dc) could not be used due to the current database format 1568.20.0, controlled by the parameter 0x410022D8 (8920 | JET_efvAllowHigherPersistedFormat) also happened after I updated to 2004, but rather than not being able to open  applications after the PC sleeps, instead  putting the PC to sleep  results in it dong an "unexpected shurtdown."

Moreover, even though I have over 59GB of hard drive space allocated for System Restore (C:\Windows\System32\rstrui.exe), Windows deleted all my restore points prior to the last update.  And also shows no update history, even though (Run) winver shows Version 2004 build 19041.1.

Reading other forums I deleted SRUDB in C:\Windows\system32\sru and stopped Diagnostic Policy Service in services.msc, and will have to see if that works. Another fix is to create a new profile/

This error (and many others) keeps restarting my computer.

I hope all of these errors and restarts don't cause permanent damage because I CANNOT afford a new one again. Microsoft updates killed my last computer and they blamed me.
