My HP BW-550 laptop (approx 2 years old) hasn't accepted any of the major Windows 10 updates since January. In no particular order, KB4532963, KB4528570 and currently KB4556799 appear to install, but result in boot failures immediately.
Each time round, the fix has been the same - force recovery console, do a system rollback to a point set immediately before the update, and restore. I've now been through this sequence at least 4 times and it's predictable.
Other than the "required" updates, the machine is perfectly stable and I'm increasingly minded to just ignore the updates and keep on refusing them. But better judgement says this situation can't go on. Checking the HP site for any updates, the glaring suggestion
is a BIOS update - I'm in serious two minds about going down this road.
HP's support response so far has been to refer me to the store I bought the machine from, I've not done as the issue is clearly with either the machine hardware or (far more likely) the updates themselves. I wish there were a way to report my specific issues
to MS to check whether there's any issues with my hardware/software combination.
