RIP Hope you get your files back The same thing (almost) happened to me today (05-14-2020). Around 10 AM, I was in the middle of doing a project on my laptop. I had a popup notification that my computer was going to restart to install an update (cumulative update for windows 10 KB4556799). I clicked the 'Not Now' box and continued working. These were supposed to only install after I approved and then, after 8 pm. After around 10 minutes the computer started the update without further notice. It seemed to take forever. Very unusual... Over an hour later it was finally finished. I resumed my work or tried to! Everything was gone except for very few things. :( The backup was turned off! No file history turned off too!! No restore point because 'a recent update had been performed within the last 10 days'! Most of the day I have been reading and searching for a way to recover all my disappearing files and work. No luck! I am shocked, confused, angry, and bewildered as to what happened & how to find everything.

Would doing a system restore work. I am no computer geek but that is only way I got my pc working due a similar issue after trying all kinds of things suggested by support which did not work. Hopefully someone with more tech knowledge replies

Today I had a big update which took about 30 minutes and when it restarted I got a black screen saying BOOTMGR Issue. I pressed CTRL, ALT DELETE but it kept returning back to the same message. Out of panic I then whacked in my original windows 7 disc hoping it would repair the issue but instead its trying to install windows 7! Im worried to death I will lose all my personal files, can someone please offer advice on how to fix this issue please? I have no windows 10 cd so im at a complete loss. Im no computer wizz kid unfortunately. Any help is better than where I am right now. Thanks all Andy

Ater install of KB4556799 I can't access a COM+ library made in .Net from within an Excel Module, more details (and screenshots and the code for the library) in feedback hub https://aka.ms/AA8fi12 as follows When using CreateObject("NameOfLibrary") on an Excel Module to access a Library created on .Net I get "Run-time error '429': ActiveX component can't create object" on the first run and "Run-time error '70': Permission denied". When running Excel as Admin I get "Run-time error '430': Class does not support Automation or does not support expected interface". I've include screenshots of the creation of the library as well as the error. Used a VM with a fresh intall of Windows 10 Enterprise (v1909) to confirm that it worked prior to KB4556799.

How do I get out of this? Every attempt to do it "the usual" way, no matter how many things I update, restart and reset, I am only given a "there's something wrong on our end" message. Help!

RIP Hope you get your files back

Would doing a system restore work. I am no computer geek but that is only way I got my pc working due a similar issue after trying all kinds of things suggested by support which did not work. Hopefully someone with more tech knowledge replies
