LoriL39, I wish you luck on getting an answer here. I gave up and just took my laptop in. I really can't afford it, but it was the only solution, plus I needed to go on a diet. I will let you know what the techs tell me when I get it back. Perhaps, the information will be useful to others who come here for help. Best regards!

Both my computer and my wife's lost our audio after installing these updates. The troubleshooter couldn't identify the problem. Tried reinstalling the drivers from both the manufacturers website and Realtex's website. Didn't work. Tried uninstalling the updates. No luck. Restoring to a point before the updates. Again, no luck. The drivers are just plan gone and won't reinstall and the computer won't recognize the speakers. Tried different speakers. Nothing. Tried headphones. Nothing. Took my computer to a repair shop, they couldn't fix it. The only thing that worked was getting a USB audio adapter and plugging speakers into the adapter.
