Until a few days ago I saw a notification on my Windows Update page (in the Settings) saying "your device is not quite ready yet". A few days ago that notification disappeared, but the 2004 update does not appear as an option on the Windows Update page.
Finally after Three and a half hours I installed Windows 10 2004 Feature update on my Lenovo Ideapad 320 without a hitch, my machine had several restarts with no hiccups, so far, so good.
Only after 3 days I was able to get Windows 10 2004, but with the sacrifice of the old installation, that was lost on the process of common update.
Since the update, I tried to do all kind of fixes (fixing the update and recovering the old installation) that Windows 10 allowed, but after so much pain I discovered that the original update procedure corrupted a lot of system files, including GUI components, so it was impossible to access UI also in Safe Mode.
Then, I had to create a new Windows 10 installation and now I am installing every software I lost and moving files and profiles moved to Windows.old.
Next upgrade I will pay attention to perform only 6 to 9 months after first users (test subjects) suffered enough after the upgrade.
Hello My main computer is yet to receive the 2004 update , and I keep seeing in the media about the Eternal Darkness vulnerability, It is bad practice to force the app, as that's how some problems can occur , however as it has been said the only true way that you can be safe is to install the 2004 update ….and my system isn't ready yet as its not showing up when i check for updates , how safe is my computer against such a hack?
Perhaps there's an easier way to format the comment section into FAQ or something? I was on Insider Build for 2004 and opted to drop out once the next Major Release was available. Well my system is still an Evaluation/Insider build according to the build info bottom right corner of desktop.
2004 released and I am still insider build. Had the option selected to stop preview builds (insider) selected a month ago. Still insider.
