File Explorer search Current folder option doesn't work

Good morning,

I am having a problem with my Windows 10 file explorer searches.  When I search for an item, it brings back results in for the current folder and all subfolders as it should.  When I click on "Current folder" in the search tools, however, it does nothing.  I still see all results from all subfolders.  

I believe this problem started after installing NVIDIA GeForce Experience and the latest NVIDIA driver.  I tried to do a system restore, but it seems I dont have any restore points.  That is another problem I will have to fix.  

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

    Hmm... From what I can tell, when you search for an item, it shows results from all subfolders as usual. But, if you click on the arrow next to the search box after searching for an item, and then click on "current folder", the results from the current folder are shown.

    Not sure if this is an intentional bug or something I discovered recently, but I hope this problem gets fixed.

    I have been having this same issue for the past week or so. In that time TWO Windows updates were PUSHED out. I am currently running Version 2004. This is definitely NEW behavior on my computer since the first of these two Windows updates was installed.

    I have tried BOTH of your recommended fixes and they do nothing. I have also rebuilt the file indexing twice. I thought it was working after I did that the first time but less than an hour later it was back to NOT working again. The indexing takes a very very long time so doing it over and over is not really a practical solution.

    Is anyone actually looking into the root cause on this?

    I am not a pro and have the same issue. After reading all the responses on this page, I did not bother trying any of those "Methods" that Microsoft guy came up with. Just a quick goofy band-aid is to use the "Group-by" under "View" and apply grouping by "folder". You can collapse all those subfolders, if need be.

    Yeah, I have the same issue.

    I need to go through hundreds of files. 

    And searching through current folder has always worked. 

    Its so frustrating that the person we are talking to here has absolutely no idea about this error. 

    Did they even try it out on their machines?

    Search in Current Folder worked so well before. And now it doesn't work at all.

    Good job, LanceWindsor3 for not losing your temper! I most certainly would have.

    I have found it to work by typing into the search window:

    *search_item* folderpath:"C:\Folder01\Folder02\etc"

    The issue about the file search has been like this for over a year and will probably stay like this forever.

    As for your other issues about not being able to update or use a printer, I'd start a new thread about it.
