File Explorer search Current folder option doesn't work

Good morning,

I am having a problem with my Windows 10 file explorer searches.  When I search for an item, it brings back results in for the current folder and all subfolders as it should.  When I click on "Current folder" in the search tools, however, it does nothing.  I still see all results from all subfolders.  

I believe this problem started after installing NVIDIA GeForce Experience and the latest NVIDIA driver.  I tried to do a system restore, but it seems I dont have any restore points.  That is another problem I will have to fix.  

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

    No TylerSigler, I'm afraid a proper solution was never found, but there is a quick easy work around thanks to MatthewSibley.  He discovered that if you do your search, then click the blue arrow to the right of the search box, and THEN click on "Current folder", it will work.  

    There should be folk songs written about MatthewSibley for finding this. 

    Ok... maybe we shouldn't take it that far, but send the guy some praise.  His discovery is saving people a lot of time.

    Hmm... From what I can tell, when you search for an item, it shows results from all subfolders as usual. But, if you click on the arrow next to the search box after searching for an item, and then click on "current folder", the results from the current folder are shown.

    Not sure if this is an intentional bug or something I discovered recently, but I hope this problem gets fixed.

    Thanks, Matthew. That really works! There is no indication that clicking on the blue arrow next to the search bar does anything at all. But it DOES WORK just as you said.

    Search. Click on blue arrow. Then click on current folder.

    I find if i wanna switch to subfolders i have to click the blue arrow again.

    Obviously a windows error. I wonder if they are ever gonna fix that.

    Matthew, you figured out the fix!!!  Or at least an easy workaround to make it work!  Well done!  Finally, I can do my searches again like I used to do so thank you for figuring this out.  I don't think this is the way it was intended to be done but it's an easy additional one step process so who cares!  I hope everyone who has been annoyed by this issue for the past year or so is able to read this for the workaround solution.  Thanks again for the post!

    Matthew Sibley, thank you so much for posting this.  I just tried your suggestion, and it worked like a charm.  It is certainly a bug that this doesn't work the way it is intended to, but at least now we all know a way to force it to work.  I don't know how you discovered this, but I sure am glad you did.  Certainly, everyone else who has posted on here will be singing your praises also. 

    I will leave this post open and unsolved, because this is not a solution, but a work around.  I hope Microsoft will work to correct the actual problem.  Aditya_Roy...  Are you still following this post?
