File Explorer search Current folder option doesn't work

Good morning,

I am having a problem with my Windows 10 file explorer searches.  When I search for an item, it brings back results in for the current folder and all subfolders as it should.  When I click on "Current folder" in the search tools, however, it does nothing.  I still see all results from all subfolders.  

I believe this problem started after installing NVIDIA GeForce Experience and the latest NVIDIA driver.  I tried to do a system restore, but it seems I dont have any restore points.  That is another problem I will have to fix.  

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Aditya,

    I created the new user administrator account on the PC, logged in to that account and created several strings of folders and subfolders to search as well as searching existing folders and subfolders.  The results were the same.  The 'Current folder' doesn't work.  

    Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Lance,

    Thank you for your response.

    We are researching on this issue and we would like you to create a new user administrator account on the PC for troubleshooting purpose, later you can remove/delete the account. Then create some test files and folders in different default locations (Ex: Desktop, Downloads, Documents) and check.

    Please refer this article to create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10, then check and let us know the status.

    Hi Aditya,

    Thanks for continuing to work on this with me.  

    The problem with the current folder button not working happens with all drives and all folders.  This includes local drives, network drives, and all subfolders.  

    Regardless of this, I tried the two methods you mentioned in your last reply and neither helped.

    Sorry for the delay in response as we were researching on this issue.

    We would like to know some information about the issue.

    • Does this issue occur on a specific drive or all the drives (local and mapped)?

    We would suggest you to perform these methods and provide us the outcome after performing each methods.

    Method 1: Refer this article for troubleshooting the issue: Automatically diagnose and repair Windows file and folder problems

    Method 2: Rebuild Indexing

    1. Click on Start Menu and type control panel.
    2. Now change View by category to large icon
    3. click/tap on the Indexing Options icon
    4. Click/tap on the Advanced button
    5. In the Index Settings tab, click/tap on the Rebuild button under Troubleshooting
    6. Click/tap on OK to confirm
