File Explorer search Current folder option doesn't work

Good morning,

I am having a problem with my Windows 10 file explorer searches.  When I search for an item, it brings back results in for the current folder and all subfolders as it should.  When I click on "Current folder" in the search tools, however, it does nothing.  I still see all results from all subfolders.  

I believe this problem started after installing NVIDIA GeForce Experience and the latest NVIDIA driver.  I tried to do a system restore, but it seems I dont have any restore points.  That is another problem I will have to fix.  

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

    You went through hoops for this. For all the others with the same problem , Thank you. For a long time I had to sort by the folder path.

    Resolved

    This question has been resolved after 13 months.  I upgraded Windows to version 21H1 and the problem is fixed.  Apparently a moderator will have to mark it as resolved.

    After 13 months, the problem has finally been resolved.  I upgraded Windows 10 to version 21H1, and that fixed the issue.  I will close this string as resolved (if I can figure out how).

    All that is very fine and nice. But the main issue remains that that WORKAROUND provided is nowhere close to an official SOLUTION from the guys that CREATED THE ISSUE in the first place. Yes, I'm talking to you, Microsoft.

    And I suspect that if anyone of us performed like this in our respective jobs, we'd be fired in much, much less time than the FIVE YEARS it's been like this.

    THANK YOU, Method #1 worked and fixed the search failure issue for me. Now I can search inside specific folders and actually get results and find specific docs I am looking for. Finding this answer took nearly 20 minutes of browsing the forums and web links - seems a lot of people are looking for THIS answer going as far back as 2016, but their posts still say "answer needed". I also noticed a lot of "some people just don't like change" replies in those discussions on this exact topic, but "search not working" is not a change issue, its a "failure to perform" its duty issue. I hope those looking for their answer end up on this page like I did. I wrote the methods down in case it happens again.

    For me, this search issue only started after the recent update. My system is:

    Windows 10, v 20H2

    (OS Build 19042.867)

    Reason I ended up here: I have a "Lyrics" folder full of Word docs titled "LYRICS (and the song title)". Today, April 11th, 2021, I used the search field in this folder to find specific song, but while every Word doc starts with "LYRIC" , when I type the title I am looking for, that I can clearly see in the folder, or even type just the word "Lyric" into said search field it says "No items match your search" while I am looking at dozens of docs titled "Lyrics _ _ _ _ ".

    Now that I followed Method 1, above, it works fine. Thanks again.
