File Explorer search Current folder option doesn't work

Good morning,

I am having a problem with my Windows 10 file explorer searches.  When I search for an item, it brings back results in for the current folder and all subfolders as it should.  When I click on "Current folder" in the search tools, however, it does nothing.  I still see all results from all subfolders.  

I believe this problem started after installing NVIDIA GeForce Experience and the latest NVIDIA driver.  I tried to do a system restore, but it seems I dont have any restore points.  That is another problem I will have to fix.  

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

    The problem persists.

    The workaround from Mathew works.

    I prefer more bug solving Windows updates than feature updates.

    Actually, the feature updates bring no added value most of the time. Just more bugs and disruptions.

    Hmm... From what I can tell, when you search for an item, it shows results from all subfolders as usual. But, if you click on the arrow next to the search box after searching for an item, and then click on "current folder", the results from the current folder are shown.

    Not sure if this is an intentional bug or something I discovered recently, but I hope this problem gets fixed.

    Check the answer from MatthewSibley , He found a workaround where you have to click on the blue arrow before you switch to current folder. It is a windows error. But this is how i do it now.

    Thanks for this info but  none of the advanced search options on the search tools menu work any more.

    eg. Being able to set a actual date or date range or search for a word in a file name only and not the entire file contents.

    It's a complete mess, why did they mess it up? Win XP & Win 7 had better search mechanisms.

    No TylerSigler, I'm afraid a proper solution was never found, but there is a quick easy work around thanks to MatthewSibley.  He discovered that if you do your search, then click the blue arrow to the right of the search box, and THEN click on "Current folder", it will work.  

    There should be folk songs written about MatthewSibley for finding this. 

    Ok... maybe we shouldn't take it that far, but send the guy some praise.  His discovery is saving people a lot of time.
