File Explorer search Current folder option doesn't work

Good morning,

I am having a problem with my Windows 10 file explorer searches.  When I search for an item, it brings back results in for the current folder and all subfolders as it should.  When I click on "Current folder" in the search tools, however, it does nothing.  I still see all results from all subfolders.  

I believe this problem started after installing NVIDIA GeForce Experience and the latest NVIDIA driver.  I tried to do a system restore, but it seems I dont have any restore points.  That is another problem I will have to fix.  

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

    Hmm... From what I can tell, when you search for an item, it shows results from all subfolders as usual. But, if you click on the arrow next to the search box after searching for an item, and then click on "current folder", the results from the current folder are shown.

    Not sure if this is an intentional bug or something I discovered recently, but I hope this problem gets fixed.

    Thanks, Matthew. That really works! There is no indication that clicking on the blue arrow next to the search bar does anything at all. But it DOES WORK just as you said.

    Search. Click on blue arrow. Then click on current folder.

    I find if i wanna switch to subfolders i have to click the blue arrow again.

    Obviously a windows error. I wonder if they are ever gonna fix that.

    I have this same issue. It started happening with the same Windows 10 Update that changed the search behavior to have to press the enter button after typing in the search query. Before whatever update that was, the search worked perfectly and only showed results in the current folder unless you specifically set it to check subfolders too.

    Since having to press Enter (or click the arrow to the right side of the box), it's been impossible to search current folder only.

    Yeah, I have the same issue.

    I need to go through hundreds of files. 

    And searching through current folder has always worked. 

    Its so frustrating that the person we are talking to here has absolutely no idea about this error. 

    Did they even try it out on their machines?

    Search in Current Folder worked so well before. And now it doesn't work at all.

    Good job, LanceWindsor3 for not losing your temper! I most certainly would have.

    I have found it to work by typing into the search window:

    *search_item* folderpath:"C:\Folder01\Folder02\etc"

    I agree with you, but looking at the first Microsoft Technician response, it's clearly a bot. They're trying to give the impression that they are responding quickly to queries, but it's just an automated response. For instance, note that the text which the 'technician' quotes - it's not even a complete sentence. 

    You can't fool us, Microsoft.
