I have a Surface Pro 5 with a Windows Hello camera that wasn't working and I wasn't able to fix it. Looked like I'd need to do a reset to fix the drivers, so instead I decided to give 2004 a try, hoping the update would refresh the camera drives. Indeed this worked, but I've been having a lot of problems since the update: Seems like all sorts of applications and OS features won't remember my username/passwords anymore. Every time I log in I have to sign into both one drive personal and one drive business. Outlook keeps asking me to log into my office365 every few hours. Acrobat keeps asking for my Adobe login every time a load a pdf if I haven't done so in a few hours. Settings periodically makes me fix my insider account configuration by re-authenticating with Hello Lastpass extention in Firefox keeps asking me to enter my password despite being configured to only require a fingeprint (it first asks me for my fingerprint, but then also asks for the password) probably some stuff I can't recall right now. I wasn't having any of these issues before the update. I tried following Lastpass's support advice to fix it by reinstalling the extension and resetting several settings but this didn't help. It's possible these are all individual issues, but since it seems to be an issue with remembering credentials across a variety of applications, I'm suspecting it's a system wide issue and maybe not specific to these applications. I checked that the credential manager service is running. It was set to manual. I changed it to automatic and rebooted but this didn't seem to help. Anyone have an idea what could be going on here? Same problems as many listed here in this discussion. Most difficult for me was loss of Outlook email every 5 to 25 minutes requiring a reboot. But many of the other symptoms also, which seem to point at Credential Manager. Finally gave up trying to rectify and, fortunately having a system backup from 6 weeks back, I have been able to restore (back to vs 1909). As others have reported - no problems there. Wish everyone good fortune in an alternate and immediate fix from Microsoft. And in the meantime I am blocking updates till I have time to work out how to be selective ...

This is due to a really bad bug in Windows Credentials Manager in the Windows 10 2004 update that basically made the Credentials Manager useless. Microsoft have been really bad to not even issue a patch for this known bug for a few months now. Only way to get around it is uninstall the Windows 10 2004 update as it now seems obvious that Microsoft aren't in any hurry to fix this critical bug, or just scrap Windows altogether and switch to Mac, Chrome OS or Linux. I tried all the other methods to fix this posted online and none of them work. EDIT: I MANAGED TO FIX IT!!! I switched to a local account I went onto my Microsoft account online, and changed the password. In windows I then switched my PC account back to the remote account and all is well. It seems that older accounts are not compatible with Windows Credentials Manager and changing the password online updates the account. I haven't tried switching back to a local account as it is working and I don't want to wake the Microsoft Bug gods.

Thing is, this issue is so bad that you can't expect that to solve the problem other than temporarily. We have re-installed a customers computers three times and the issue comes back... We're no big fans of Microsoft at the moment...

1. I switched to a local account
2. I went onto my Microsoft account online, and changed the password.
3. In windows I then switched my PC account back to the remote account and all is well.
