I have a Surface Pro 5 with a Windows Hello camera that wasn't working and I wasn't able to fix it. Looked like I'd need to do a reset to fix the drivers, so instead I decided to give 2004 a try, hoping the update would refresh the camera drives. Indeed this worked, but I've been having a lot of problems since the update: Seems like all sorts of applications and OS features won't remember my username/passwords anymore. Every time I log in I have to sign into both one drive personal and one drive business. Outlook keeps asking me to log into my office365 every few hours. Acrobat keeps asking for my Adobe login every time a load a pdf if I haven't done so in a few hours. Settings periodically makes me fix my insider account configuration by re-authenticating with Hello Lastpass extention in Firefox keeps asking me to enter my password despite being configured to only require a fingeprint (it first asks me for my fingerprint, but then also asks for the password) probably some stuff I can't recall right now. I wasn't having any of these issues before the update. I tried following Lastpass's support advice to fix it by reinstalling the extension and resetting several settings but this didn't help. It's possible these are all individual issues, but since it seems to be an issue with remembering credentials across a variety of applications, I'm suspecting it's a system wide issue and maybe not specific to these applications. I checked that the credential manager service is running. It was set to manual. I changed it to automatic and rebooted but this didn't seem to help. Anyone have an idea what could be going on here? I am updating the Outlook Known Issue article to reflect the same, Outlook and other apps won't remember password after Windows Updates - Outlook (microsoft.com) .

It might be sufficient to change task's security options from "Run whether user is logged on or not" to "Run only when user is logged on". It should change under-the-hood logon type from "S4U", which is purportedly causing the problem, to "InteractiveToken"

It seems that this question do not apply to me. But for services like Youtube, Gmail, Facebook, OneDrive, it didn't last for more than a few days. At least what is slighty better than before, is that credentials entry is only necessary once for the time the computer is up. Occasionnaly, I can skip one credentials entry across computer reboot, but this is inconsistent. It seems that something break credentials handshake between services and Edge, so Edge do no say "Hey I have the credentials" on hand. When I applied receipe 8 from the site above, I lost credentials Edge had stored before, as expected . It worked for a while, and stopped working. Today I checked Edge' stored credentials, and the old ones are all back, restored from only God knows where ! I have a strong felling that this is a sychronisation problem between my computer and my phone which also have Edge. Is Edge on my computer brought back old credentials from my phone? There was also a funny parameter about Edge behavior on my phone related to Legacy Edge, but I can't remember now the exact naming of the parameter, which I would I've taken care to take in note, knowing what I know today. I reset it few days ago, since Edge on my phone was the chromium version.

Sorry, but these steps do neither address nor resolve the real problems. MS has to address fundamental issues that go way beyond these steps. E.g. Local Outlook Gmail continues to request PWs and crashes after a short while requiring to go thru that process again. Windows Mail loses Gmail account info and needs to be updated again and again. Many other apps continue to require sign-in although the sign-in info is there, just not pulled up. It is not consistent. Some apps show their sign-in window with all the info shown and only need to be accepted, others require typing in the PWs, and some require typing in everything. Something got screwed up very, very badly.
