As of May 28th 2021, i got a forced update to build 20H2 from 1909, cause it is no longer supported. I still got those freezes with the 2 newest versions of Windows, even after 1 year when i also tried once the 2004 build for one day back in June 2020. The freezes mostly occur, when the PC is in idle for about 20 minutes or just totally random. The system locks up completly, screen frozen and only way to get it back up running is to press the reset button and do a hardreset. So i rolled back again to 1909, even though its no longer supported. But with 1909 my system just runs perfectly and never crashes or freezes.
I also tried everything which i could find in the web search. Reinstalling drivers after the update, sfc scans etc, but none of it helped. Build 2004 and 20H2 always freezes with my system.
Another weird thing i noticed while testing the 20H2 is that my data drive ( a WD Black 6 TB HDD ) never turns off, even though it is set in energy options, to do so, after 20 min of inactivity. It is constantly reading or writing for no reason. The OS itself is on a Samsung 970 Pro M.2 SSD. In version 1909, this weird behaviour never occurs.
I am out of ideas now and need help. Has anyone an idea what is causing this or is microsoft even aware of it? Or is it some sort of incompatibility with specific hardware or drivers ? I am stuck now with 1909 and cant use a newer version, cause it renders my system unusable. I have the choice now between a version which is no longer supported but works perfectly fine (1909) or a new version which has security updates but freezes every 10 or 30 mins. Not a great choice and situation really to be at.
