Windows 10 version 2004 Randomly freezes

Back with more good news[???}: despite positive comments earlier in this thread, I'd picked up from other fora that Malwarebytes was responsible for these problems with 2004 freezing and hanging. This was reinforced by following MWB's own forum, which relatea several recent updates but concludes by saying that the latest update did NOT deal with the problems experienced with Win10 v2004!

So I just 'quit' the program (quitting 'sticks' even after restarts), resulting in MS Defender/Windows Security taking over all aspects - I'm most impressed that MS have really upped their game in this and now doubt whether a third party Security program is needed (especially at £30 pa!).

The result (after several days of trial): complete cure - so far!

I might see if MWB will agree a refund as only recently renewed subscription!! Some hope.

I have to disagree with you.

I have used Malwarebytes Premium for years.

I Beta test for them, so have their latest versions.

I have experienced no random freezes caused by MBAM.

I agree with you because I also do not use any other antivirus other than Windows security which in a few words is windows defend so I don't know what it is I don't think it is something related to any antivirus, it seems to me that it is something related to the drivers of the video cards because the occasions that have happened to me have happened when I have been playing and I have all the drivers up to date so nobody can tell me to update them because after the last version of the AMD drivers 20.4.2 there is no other recommended only there is one that is optional 20.5.1 but it is beta and another very important thing that has happened to me since I installed the windows version insider program 2004 has been that I also see errors in the DVD player, which has never happened before, it works for me and everything but when I see the EVENT ID, there is almost always an error that talks about the controller, so for the moment I have stayed in the 1909 version that until now I can say that it is stable.

I can only report what I see - and I still have no problems. Of course the same issue won't necessarily apply to all users, just those with a particular combination of software installed (and settings).

However, I am far from alone in concluding that this problem lies with the interaction between v2004 and various third-party security providers - see both Avast and Malwarebytes own websites.

Call me cynical, but I wonder whether the issues might be not entirely unintended on Microsoft's part - given the effort they have put into improving their own built-in solution!
