using a second external camera with microsoft teams

Its not ideal but I have a mobile phone on a bendy bracket with Teams installed on it. The phone joins the meeting as well as my PC so I have 2 viewpoints. I use one for delivery and PowerPoint presentation, and the other to view my actions, be it writing on the whiteboard or doing detail work on the desk. Before each session I set the camera up to be the view I will need for that lesson. Similarly to yourself, I teach material science and find it really useful when trying to show students how to do things. I hope this helps.

I am using OBS and I have two cameras. It works just fine in MS Teams *except* that the images are mirrored and I cannot figure out how to change it in MS Teams (like you can in Zoom). If I mirror the images in OBS then it shows up in Teams just fine, but I suspect this is a limitation of MS Teams. 

At any rate, you can definitely use two cameras. You need OBS (which supports as many cameras as you want) and then OBS spits out a "virtual camera" to MS Teams. You can control which camera is showing from within OBS.

I am about to try the following set up.

A proposed solution is to run multiple cameras through another program such as OBS or Logitech Capture, both allow multiple camera inputs then output as a single. Then select the OBS or Logitech Capture as your input into Teams.

I agree Microsoft should present this multi-cam feature for presenters... Whiteboard is only good for digitally written content - no physical tangibility which is what many teachers require such as Art which I what I am presenting, similar to soldering, you can't show how to make a ceramic sculpture, a ceramic planter pot, a card etc on the whiteboard...

I'm A speech pathologist and it is very important for my students to see me as well the materials I am sharing.  That is why I posted the question about using a second camera.  My school system no longer allows us to use Zoom but I was able to share my materials with a second camera and my students could still see me. 

While this is a bit off topic, but may solve you problem...

With Open Source Conferencing-System BigBlueButton you can already use two client pcs and their camera or a pc and a smartphone to accomplish your goal. With upcoming version 2.3 you can even share 2 webcams from the same computer.
