Auto muting of sound and microphone at random times when in Zoom

when in Zoom both the sound and my microphone randomly auto mute.   I can unmuted them using f5 and f8 buttons but it will later auto mute again.   There appears to be no pattern to the amount of time it stays on.  Sometime 1 minutes sometimes as many as 10.   I do not use any other meeting platforms so don't know if this is a Zoom problem or a microsoft problem.   I am using an HP probook computer that is less than 6 months old.  In Microsoft 10 software.  

I've been experiencing this issue on my HP Probook since March 2020. No resolution. I've tried all of the tips and tricks. The only way I keep my sanity is to use a headset/earbuds. I avoid using Zoom and choose to use Google Meet just because of this ongoing issue. Never have any issues with Google Meet. Now that Meet has the Waiting room and rolling out Breakout Rooms in October, no reason to stay with Zoom. I use WebEx, Teams, GoMeet and any other virtual conferencing solution out there, but Zoom is the only one that has this ongoing issue.

I have the same problem on my HP ProBook 440.

why does that mean it is not an HP problem? I have the same problem on my laptop. In the time of Covid when we rely on our computers and Zoom for meetings and School, HP should offer a fix. I have to use my child's Dell to conduct meetings or I need to purchase another brand new laptop.

I followed these steps, but there is no Zoom app to toggle off.

Having experienced this same issue with my Plantronics bluetooth headset on a Surface Pro 3 with Windows 10 Professional, I may have found a solution...

Select the Audio Settings in Zoom. There is a "Sync buttons on headset" option. If it is selected,deselect this option.

You may also need to check with the Zoom host that they don't have an auto-mute attendees option enabled.
