when in Zoom both the sound and my microphone randomly auto mute. I can unmuted them using f5 and f8 buttons but it will later auto mute again. There appears to be no pattern to the amount of time it stays on. Sometime 1 minutes sometimes as many as 10. I do not use any other meeting platforms so don't know if this is a Zoom problem or a microsoft problem. I am using an HP probook computer that is less than 6 months old. In Microsoft 10 software.

It may be happening on the same HP laptop family, but I just want to clarify, it's a Zoom issue, I don't have any MIC or Speaker issue with WebEx, Teams or Cisco Teams and Jabber.

We have many HP Probook laptops and we are getting this random muting in Zoom and in Teams.
It's not just Zoom. This happens to me in Teams too.

We have Win10 HP EliteBook 840 G6's with i7, using Intel default audio. About 1% of our machines are experiencing this in Zoom. All have been updated to the newest Zoom client, but we have a few different headset configurations and desk setups, as I assume is the case with most these days. One of our users was inside our building with white noise in the background. That may affect things. On a few IP telephony support calls, we have had issues where peoples' headsets jump into loud static if they're using a USB extender or hub. Thought it might have something to do with the way accessories handle USB 3 signal. Most of the softphone issues are solved by plugging directly into the laptop, but shooting from the hip, these could be related. Perhaps Zoom is detecting this "noise" and suppressing the user's audio without giving clear messaging.
I did note a new (to me, anyway) feature on Zoom's advanced audio page while you're in a meeting. (Zoom audio carat>Audio Settings>Advanced) There are 3 suppression options. Mine (working) are set to Auto. There is also a "Hey, Zoom, leave my audio alone," checkbox, and yes, you must think of Pink Floyd when you read that. I'm going to suggest to affected users that if their issue is only in Zoom they might try changing a few of these setting to be less aggressive. Especially if they keep getting muted DURING a meeting. That sounds like software suppression. All or parts of this may be new in Zoom 5.0x?
If the mic issue is global on the laptop, I would think a service call to the manufacturer is in order. If the mic issue is only on Zoom, start as above. Thanks, all, for digging in on this one. We'll get there.
In the meantime, for those of you using a corporate Zoom account, you might be able to connect to the Zoom with your smartphone over wifi and not tally expensive phone minutes with Zoom! You would need to join the meeting anonymously with your phone since your login only works on one device at a time, but give your cell phone a reasonable name, and remember to use a password so you don't run into Zoom bombing issues. Hope this is gold to someone!
Mine is running an i7 and Intel integrated graphics (620)...however, after I followed all the instruction in this thread AND HP or Zoom pushed an update, the problem went away.
I was thinking of undoing the changes from this thread to see if that screws it up again, but have not felt like tempting fate today.
